The location is perfect. You can easily walk to the marina, cable cars, shopping and dining. The room was great and the bed and pillows were exceptional. Breakfast is fine and coffee is a self service machine which was disappointing. The closest parking is a garage that is about a 7-10 minute walk. Street parking is impossible.

IT IS NOT SAFE - RAMPANT CRIME IN LISBON

Service was impeccable but Lisbon is NOT safe! My daughter and her husband were cornered by 4 thieves with 2 more blocking the top and bottom of the street (with umbrellas hanging) just a few blocks from hotel before 11pm. They wanted money and my daughter alerted the security/bouncers of nearby bars and clubs who were watching but did nothing to stop an assault on tourists. She actually yelled " you see whats happening, will you do something?" They just looked on with disinterest. My son in law, a big and fit guy, threw 10 Euro at them and ran into a bar while the thieves yelled that they will wait for them to exit and follow them back. They finally left with a large group of exiting people and made it safely back, but beware, it is not safe and security/bouncers are in on the crime and will not help you! I WILL NEVER VISIT LISBON AGAIN - GARFITI ON WALLS SAYS : TOURISTS GO HOME - I WOULD OBLIGE THEM!

We had a great stay! The hotel was clean, the breakfast was great and the rooftop pool was an additional plus to just wind down and take a dip after walking around and site seeing all day. The hotel was in a very convenient location. Highly recommend this hotel if you’re staying in Funchal!

A short but lovely stay

We stayed only for 1 night but really great location to walk around Funchal. Rooms are large for Europe and quite comfortable. Minifridge and welcome chocolates quite nice. The only thing I would note is that there are very few chairs in the rooftop bar/pool area so almost impossible to find a spot. Breakfast is delicious and plentiful. Would stay here again for sure.

Loved our stay!

We loved our stay at Barceló. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The pool was a great place to spend a couple hours in the afternoon. The only thing that could have made our stay better would be to have parking closer but the walk wasn’t bad at all. Great breakfast too!

We loved our stay at the Barcelo. The room was very clean. The king sized bed was very comfortable as was the sofa bed which our daughter slept on. There was plenty of room in our room which was the standard basic room for 3 people. We loved the shower as well. The breakfasts were amazing and we really liked how the hotel opened up onto the main street where you could dine. The rooftop had amazing views and the decor and service was fantastic. A couple of times the water bottle wasn’t replenished (1 bottle is free per night) but when calling reception, they quickly gave us one. We would like to come back and recommend the Barcelo which is also located perfectly for visiting Funchel. The staff were very nice as well.
