Overall stay was good, the place is located in a convenient spot for walking to shops, bars, restaurants. Breakfast options were mediocre, not many to choose from. Rooms were small and washrooms were tiny. Staff were helpful.

The Zarco B&B it’s a convenient location in Funchal it’s just 3 min walking distance from seaside and central town. The room and the staff was exceptional. Extremely friendly and super helpful. Breakfast it’s great and they are organized if you leave early for hiking they provide take away food bag.The room is equipped with small fridge and AC . The room cleaning and with towel changing happen every day. Can not recommend more. Excellent!

Amazing location, close to many restaurants, bars, shops, etc. The staff were lovely, even prepared us a take away breakfast at 5:30am when we went on a hike. Would recommend.

Everyone at the staff has been very helpful to me. They made arrangements for me to extend my stay even under somewhat difficult conditions. I’m a happy guy and I like the location is central and you can get to the bus terminal the cable car and the old city with no problem. Mike

Hotel was in the centre of town, walkable to everything....shops, restaurants, attractions, transit, promenade. Great breakfast and comfortable beds. Room could of been a bit bigger. If you get a room facing the promenade, it can be noisy with people talking and music into late hours 3am. But overall enjoyed our stay.

Staff were very helpful. Breakfast was good and they provided a small take away breakfast when needed. Room was kept clean every day. Apart from my comments below, the Hotel was in a great location to the restaurants, buses to both the airport and surrounding tourist Locations around the island and Taxis as well as the Marina if visiting Porto Santo. The issue mainly was the noise. The bar outside played loud music until 3am most days and the noise from drinkers when not. Not part of the Hotel but it made for 8 nights of bad sleeping. I guess other rooms may have been Ok.

We stayed here on our last night in Madeira because we had an early morning flight the next day and the hotel is super close to the airport bus stop. You can't beat the location of this hotel. It is in the heart of downtown Funchal so you are within walking distance of lots of restaurants and shops, plus the beautiful waterfront. The hotel itself was clean during our stay, however the walls are thin and you can hear everything in the hallways. The rooms are small and the beds are firm, but they have everything you need for a one night stay (bonus points for great air conditioning units!). The staff went above and beyond by providing me with breakfast at 2am since I had a 5am flight to catch. I wouldn't stay here for more than a night or two as the rooms are small and not the most comfortable, but I was really pleased with the service during our stay.

Perfect central hotel for solo
I loved this hotel being central for town, bus station, boat trips and market. Very helpful friendly staff and ideal for solo female, safe door lock. Buffet breakfast included and adequate with fresh fruit and pastries. Front room does overlook small bar table area but not overly noisy and no music. Cathedral close by and main tourist attractions/museum. Bus to airport 9 at end of road which is promenade walking area and sea. Great short stay. Steps to access.

Lovely property, rooms are tight but excellent value, and the aircon was a big perk for my husband. The gentleman who checked us in was incredible helpful, and even had a to go breakfast ready for us, and arranged us a cab since we had a very early flight out!

Location location location! Everything you need at the doorstep. Restaurants, grocery, tour bookings, poncha and taxis. The staff were very accommodating and the breakfast was great. Highly recommend if you want easy access to convenience in Funchal.

This was a fabulous guest house and exceeded expectations. Location can’t be better for being in center of the city, totally walkable, continental breakfast was wonderful and staff was truly 5 star. I was traveling solo so had a single bed room with internal window which suited me fine, but when I come back will book double room looking front for view of the water. Only suggestion for Zarco is to add a bright large piece of art/painting on wall in room to add to the calming beige colour scheme. Thanks for the great experience!

Great option for exploring Funchal!
Our stay was great, and it started top. We arrived early in the morning after a tough trip, and we’re invited to join breakfast for free. Really a top attitude from the nice staff, we felt like home from day one. I had read some criticism about breakfast, which is in my opinion unfair. Very good and complete continental breakfast with fresh fruit, home made cake, etc. I’ll stay again for sure.
