It was blatantly obvious that the owner had the pool/jacuzzi drained, elevator and all vending machines including ice machine out of order. Having to leave the property to go get your own ice means I will never stay there again.

Room was clean and staff was friendly. Several things in the hotel required maintenance or repair. The mini fridge in my room was not functional and several other amenities were closed or out of order.

The pool was not operating or any water in it. The breakfast was fair and a little dry, otherwise ok. The room was exchanged out for a King Room with an operating whirl pool. It wasn’t the same for a pool operation. The manager was kind and tried hard to please. Not the best home to travel. The weather was extremely cold but the room was warm. Next time I would call the facility directly to see if all operations were working. Vending machine out, ice was out and pool closed. Overall the manager let us in 1 day earlier Since severe the only guests there. 5 out of 10 rating.

We arrived to checkin to find that the machine that makes room keys was broken. The front desk manager would have to open our door to let is in every time we left the room. Once he opened the room, I immediately smell a strong odor that seemed like someone had recently smoked in the room. Then the tv would not function. And there was some type of foreign material on the bedspread. I went back to the front desk and asked for a different room and he gave is the room next door, which did not have the odor. But he had to get the tv going in that room as well. In addition, the pool and hottub were out of service. In addition the elevator and vending machine and ice machine were out of odor. The elevator being down did not impact us because our room was on the 1st floor. i have stayed at numerous Country Inn & Suites over the years and have been very happy. Not this time.

Parking was fine. Heated pool. What killed it for me was that the card generating machine was apparently broken. So whenever we had to get into our room after leaving for whatever reason we had to find the hotel staff (which was never around). When we walked in after having a great time in Galena we were going to get our card (front counter said the machine would be fixed by 7pm that night, it wasn’t) we were awkwardly standing with a worker lady (might have been the cleaning lady.) with out her shoes on just her socks. And she was struggling to unlock our doors and had to call the manager. Also room 105 does not lock by itself you have to use both manual locks. Very unsafe.

The staff was wonderful and very friendly. The complementary breakfast was sufficient. The only holdup was the heater in the room was very loud, and the beds are too firm for my liking. Otherwise, a very pleasant trip.

The place needs updating including the bed coverings. Always cold coffee in the lobby area. Elevator, vending machine, ice machine, All out of order. equipment needs to be replaced when needed, Not just put out of order on it. Hot tub was filled in with concrete. Breakfast was cold and the meat and eggs did not taste right. Also need to accommodate deer hunters and have breakfast earlier.

Rooms were run down, dusty, moldy, and had bugs. All of the towels and sheets had pink and orange stains, even after requesting new ones. Management allowed a pool party to blast music until 3am, even after pointing it out. Bagels at breakfast were moldy. Without a doubt the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Just because it’s a small town, doesn’t mean that the only hotel has to be disgusting. A case for the health department for sure.
