We booked this hotel for our anniversary, willing to overlook that it looked old, worn, and in need of maintenance. Unfortunately, what happened during our stay was unacceptable.
About an hour after check-in, while my wife and I were in bed, maintenance opened our door trying to let other guests into our room. The front desk admitted it was a mistake, but it was a serious invasion of privacy and dignity. Their response was unprofessional and showed no real understanding of how upsetting this was.
Later, when we returned from the beach, our keys didn’t work. We called the front desk again, only to be met with rudeness and blame from the staff. Instead of an apology, we were told “we’re allowed to make mistakes.” At that point, we decided to check out early.
In hospitality, customer service should be exceptional — a warm greeting, attentive service, and accountability when something goes wrong. None of that was present here. The management should be ashamed of such poor training and disregard for guests.
I strongly caution anyone considering staying here: you deserve better. There are other hotels in Galveston at the same price that will treat you with respect and provide a much better experience.
