I thought this place was from the future. The young man named Kevin was very polite and helpful. He allowed us to check in at 2PM, two hours early. They have ultra modern elevators and escalators. The room looked new with every feature that you could think of. The details are well done. When you open the closet, the door flips a switch and turns on a light inside so you can easily see everything in there. So convenient. The spa has great amenities and we had a wonderful experience. Even the Coke machine on my floor had a modern flair. Instead of the bottle being dispensed, you swipe your credit card first. Once approved, you open the glass door and take what you want. The total charge depends on what you remove. It knows which drinks you remove and it bills you accordingly. The only thing that I can really complain about is the buffet. It costs $59 per person and includes a lobster tail and two crab clusters. They give you a voucher for each and destroy it when you redeem. The problem I have is that if you don't eat shellfish, you are kind of screwed. There should be an option for opting out of the seafood. Most of the buffet is prety good, but my prime rib was over done.

The rooms were great. The scanner for your room key was on the wall up a little above the door handle which I liked, it was easier to use. I absolutely loved it and thought it was fantastic. Was the new electronic Do not disturb or request housekeeper service? They have inside the room next to the door. Two electronic buttons. That light signs outside your door, to let the housekeepers know you want housekeeper service or Do not disturb. This is so much better than flimsy door handle hangers that you place on the outside of your door. Which can fall off, or people remove as a joke. The slot machines were very up to date and extremely fun to play.

I enjoyed the Spa area, however the Monarch website could use some updates to be more clear about HOW to reserve a "Day Pass" and the cost of it. Also, I was woken up at 8:45am by a loud doorbell noise in my room. I thought it might be a fire alarm? Turns out housekeeping was checking to see if I was there... I was jolted awake from a deep sleep unfortunately, on my vacation.

Beautiful resort property situated in a narrow valley with an active creek and beautiful mountain views. The property is nice, clean, and has a good variety of food options. Buffets options can be extremely expensive but alternative options are in the area, and Golden has most nation food chain brands available within a short 25 minute drive of the property. The Casino floors are smoke-free so for those that are looking to have a pleasant, smokeless experience this is a great option. The property has a dark, moody motif with dark-stained wood and fixture finishes; coupled with warm lighting, the property provides a relaxing resort environment. We stumbled on this property by accident one year and it has drawn us back to Colorado several years now. I have often shared great reviews and experiences of the property with friends, family, and colleagues. This last trip however leaves me a little disappointed. The property is located in the mountains so elevation acclimation may be a consideration for some travelers. The property has a strict no refunds policy. So, for my fellow low-altitude natives, plan accordingly when heading into the hills.
