Grosvenor Hotel Glasgow West End

The hotel is based in a beautiful historical terrace. Car access to it is restricted at the front to four places with other car parking on the top level of the adjacent Waitrose store. Ramp access to it is tight as it feels like a 1960s car park when cars were much smaller. The receptionist was really professionally helpful and very friendly. Our room, on the first floor overlooked an unattractive roof of the building next door. The room was cosy in size, clean and in the main functional. The tv did not work and this was explained as a system problem which would be resolved the next day. Thd bed was clean and comfortable with tea/coffee facilities. The bathroom was basic but clean. It does need a revamp. There was no dehumidifying mechanism to extract the steam from our showers so the room felt damp all through the night. The breakfast was good..good cereal choice with fresh fruit and yoghurt, croissants, hot cooked selection, tea, coffee, juice etc. Checkout was easy with another friendly and efficient receptionist. Its a mid range hotel, in an excellent position close to the underground system on Byres Road, which means visitors can travel throughout Glasgow without having to use their cars in the current constantly roadworked city. We would go again but would book a more expensive room for a better view and a bit more space.

Long queue to check in. Expensive room which needed maintenance (electrical wires showing, toilet roll holder was a bolt…) Parking was difficult with the car park not very big, it was full and shared with local residents. It’s a convenient location but overall the hotel felt tired and in need of renovation.

Great location . Tired hotel , had a family room , 2 doubles . Warm and comfortable . No fridge . Tv not working for the wknd , not told in advance . Family rooms overlook carpark . No fan in bathroom. Breakfast was tasty and fresh . Staff all friendly . Photos make it look glam but it is not . Shower was hot and cold . Room was big but would prob not stay again .

Great area, better location than city centre!

We loved this hotel. The location was brilliant, I’m really happy we didn’t stay in the city centre, there was lots to see and do on our doorstep here. Museums, gardens and walks. Restaurants, cafes and bars. We loved the live music in the Irish bar a 5 minute walk away. The hotel was better than expected, a lovely building from the front, the bathroom maybe a little dated but suited the hotel enough to get away with it for now. Only problem was the Friday night drunks coming out of the church bar at 4am opposite, I don’t think the windows were double glazed and they were noisy, however I don’t remember noticing and traffic noise. Overall a brilliant stay and wouldn’t hesitate to go back!

Very comfortable bed, good curtains to keep out light and a decent breakfast all contributed to a pleasant stay. Staff were cheerful and helpful. And the Bo'vine restaurant serves a good meal. The market value meals actually are pretty good value - big portions as well as tasty food,

The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel was spotless but carpark was very busy so arrive early. Room was comfortable and clean. Extra tea and coffee was available if needed.
