Staff are very kind and friendly but the hotel needs an urgent update. The carpet is so dirty, the tv stand had so much dust, there was hair in the bedding, the floor is uneven and made lots of noise when you walked. It definetly needs a make over.

This is a historical building, it shows its age.

This is a historical building, it shows its age. The location can't be beat. It is definitely old school. The bed was clean and comfortable. Service was not great considering it was 4:10pm and having to check in at the attached pub, where it seamed like I disturbed the employees more than anything else.

Beautiful historic building. Lovely location. Not a great experience though in terms of a hotel stay. It was unclean, I did not receive any room services, toilet paper, fresh towels etc. even though I was there 4 days. The walls are paper thin, so with noisy neighbours I did not sleep. The staff are only present in the restaurant. Ownership has changed and everything has definitely gone down hill unfortunately. You don’t even get a coffee maker in the room.

We were told that the breakfast buffet was available from 9 am during the weekends but at the very last minute they informed us that it was not available until may. We were disappointed by that fact.They did not care to inform us before about it

Stayed in Goderich for an overnight.

The motel part was excellent. No problems there, except the amount of stairs. For me I am in my 60's and have both knees replaced, so the first flight was okay but could barely make it up the second flight. The restaurant part was very disappointing on the staff part. The food was good. The weight to be served after we sat down was a good 5 minutes. Both staff members looked over at us several times before coming over. We got the drinks and again we were made to wait longer than 5 minutes to order supper. Not once were we asked if everything was ok. We were not given and ketchup ect., my friend grabbed it from the next table as the male staff just watched but never said anything. We have are at this place a lot of times and never had received this type of service there in the past. We will return.

This historic hotel is an absolute gem in a fantastic, central location! However, it is seriously aging (no modern upgrades) and poorly maintained. If you choose to give it a chance, be prepared for dirty carpets, broken floor tiles in the bathroom, a shower that shrieks the whole time you're in it (boiling hot water though!), and tired furnishings. On the upside, the bed and pillows were comfortable with lovely linens (towels were iffy). Check-in was at the pub downstairs and I only saw staff at the "front desk" once in my 5-day stay (not best for security!). I requested room service only once in that period but nobody checked or cleaned the room. Parking is not secure or supervised but thankfully Goderich is inherently safe. Please consider giving this sweet spot your business, I'd hate to see it close...but be prepared!
