Japanese customer service is bar none, the highest amongst other country. The staff speak English and are very welcoming. The breakfast buffet had a good selection of both western style and Japanese style cuisine.
The room however is that of a typical business hotel in Japan. The mattress was as hard as a rock and the room had bugs inside of it. Wallpaper was peeling and the room had an unpleasant smell to it. If you absolutely need a place to stay for the night, this will do but if you have the chance to choose a better hotel, do so.
They didn't have any non-smoking rooms so had to accept smoking room. The hotel is old and smell in the room was terrible and within 20 min of entering the room I had itchy eyes and throat. I tried to air it out with the A/C but the wall unit must have been as old as the hotel and it was saturated with tar. It made the room even stinkier and my eyes itchier.
The mattress might has well have been made out of rock. 17 hours after checking out I still have issues with my eyes. For 12,000 Yen a night for a tiny room I'd say try to find something newer and cleaner in the area. Avoid!

From the prespective of a biker that need a quit place to sleep.
- Location is good and convenient.
- Room condition was sort of usual like a eco hotel apart from AC. Couldn’t work out on how to operate it.
- Staff was good.
- Breakfast was good.
Excellent value for money, well-located, breakfast and public bath are very good. I have used this hotel several times and highly recommend it. The only problem in my last stay was the strong smell of cigarette smoke in a room supposed to be non-smoking.
I stay at this hotel several days each year and I find the reception staffs very friendly and ready to help when in need of information. The amenities covers the items I need. The breakfast is served from early hour which suits me well as my day starts very early. There are plenty of places to eat walking distance. It is not a luxury hotel but comfortable.
I booked this hotel at the last minute before going on a Mt Fuji day hike (buses leave several times a day from Gotemba train station to Mishurimi 5th station and to Gotemba 5th station).I would have preferred a hotel in the center but they were all booked in early August. The hotel is nice, regular rooms, good wifi and fine breakfast. The only negative comment I have is that the beds are very hard. This hotel is located about 2 km away from the city center, and the best way to go downtown is to take a taxi, which costs 1000 Yen. Walking is possible but not very pleasant since it’s mostly along large busy roads. The hotel is surrounded by chain restaurants (Mc Donalds, KFC and Denny’s diner) but there is a smaller Italian restaurant just across the parking lot that serves very tasty pasta dishes. Finally, the advantage of being of out of town is that you can see Mt Fuji from the hotel. Ask for a room with view on the volcano.
There werent many hotels in Gotemba appeared on hotel booking agents so not many choices at the time of booking. The hotel was better than how it is portrayed in pictures, Route inn hotel is under the umbrella of big hotel group so certain standard was kept.
The hotel is about 2.1km from Gotemba JR so taxi is the only choice, but they immediately know when you say Route Inn (bring hotel card just in case). There is KFC, McD and some japanese eateries next to the hotel. Lawson is abt 300m away but need to walk carefully as the road is not well-lit at night. Unfortunately only smoking rooms are available, but there was air purifier and AC is working well. Comfortable in-room yukata is provided wish it could be sold to us but it couldnt. Twin room is quite spacious. Staff can speak limited English but can get by. Japanese style breakfast buffet is provided but limited choices - kids' utensils are also available
We had to take this hotel as it was near the Fuji Speedway. It's just a basic hotel with basic Japanese breakfast. Hotel is pretty old and tiny. Sometimes you can get someone at the reception who can speak English and sometimes not.
The hotel is a bit far (2 km) from the Gotemba Station. If you have luggage, you should take a taxi. The location itself is nice. The hotel is surrounded with many restaurants. It has a great view of Mt Fuji, and you can enjoy a nice, enjoyable stroll around the area. The room is well-equipped. The bed is not a little hard, but still sleep-able. Breakfast is ok.
Convenient location to visit the Kirin Distillery.
We stayed for 1 night, after 2 nights in Hakone for a wedding, specifically to visit the Kirin Distillery the next day. The hotel is a 7-minute walk away from a bus stop for infrequent buses to Kawaguchiko, which stop right in front of the brewery ("Nidino" bus stop).
Didnt have much choices of hotel to choose from. Location is bad if you dont have a car. The only mean of transportation is taxi which is costly.
Other than location, the hotel is good. Staff are friendly and helpful but dont understand why they dont provide complimentary drinking water but they do provide free breakfast. Sigh
