Overall, our stay was good, and the restaurant staff were very friendly and provided excellent service. The only issue we faced was with parking. We had to park on the roadside, which felt unsafe at night, and paid parking was not available either. We were also expecting the waste bin to be cleared daily, especially since we were staying with a baby. Apart from these minor issues, everything else was very good, and we had a pleasant stay.

This is an old hotel that is being updated. My room was completely modern as was the bath. Both the room and bath had opening windows! The location is great, about 7 minutes walk from the train station, 5 minutes to the bus station and 5-10 minutes to the city center. The only glitch I encountered was when I tried to take the stairs instead of the one elevator - that's when I discovered that not all of the hotel has been renovated yet. The pathway to use the stairs was a bit disjointed and involved two different sets of stairs that seemed to be from two different eras.

The staff went above and beyond when I had a personal issue booking a train. All staff, restaurant servers and housekeepers were all very pleasant, helpful and just genuine. We loved the vinyl selection in our room and also the coffee machine.

An absolute gem of a place. Perfect location. Truly outstanding staff. Every single person working there was extremely polite, professional and charming. Fantastic bar and restaurant. I will recommend this hotel to everyone I know.

Excellent hotel with very comfortable rooms, fair pricing and friendly, professional staff. The only downside is the location is on a hill so some may find the walk there and back into the city difficult.

We had an issue with our reservation. By the time we got to the hotel, we found out that a change we'd made to our accommodations hadn't been made, and it would have cost us another $1,000 to stay in the room that hadn't been changed. The staff at Clayton Hotel were accommodating and helped us to change to the room we had booked. We were given a nice room, and the cost was what we expected. My only criticism is the room temperature. It was always humid and muggy, but we were given a fan to help with the temperature.
