Galeria River Hotel is located in a great area and has a unique charm due to its historic building. The property's character and location are definitely its strongest points, making it a convenient base for exploring the city. However, travelers should be aware that the historic nature of the building also comes with some limitations. Unlike most modern American hotel chains, the hotel has no elevator (lift) and no air conditioning. Our room was located on the third floor, which meant carrying our check-in luggage and suitcases up several flights of stairs. This can be challenging, especially for families, older travelers, or anyone with heavy bags. The biggest issue during our stay was the lack of air conditioning. We visited during the summer, and the room became quite warm at night. As a result, we had difficulty sleeping and were uncomfortable throughout the night. While the historic atmosphere is appealing, it comes at the expense of some modern conveniences that many travelers may expect. Overall, if you appreciate historic properties and want a hotel in a good location, Galeria River Hotel may be a good choice. Just be prepared for a different experience than what you would typically find at major American hotel brands. The charm and location are excellent, but the absence of an elevator and air conditioning significantly impacted our comfort during the stay. Rating: 3/5 stars. The hotel is in a great location on a lovely street and very near the river. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Beautiful convent value for money

Very disappointing stay. The gentleman on reception was lovely - the only redeeming feature. On checking in to our room, the key didn't work and it took the lady a number of attempts to get in. I expressed concern about if that happened on our return after 11pm (when there would be no one on the desk) and she said 'it would be fine and would definitely work'. Not sure how she knew this. The room was like an oven with the makeshift AC unit weirdly blowing hot air out. We said we cannot stay in this room, it's unbearable. I said to my sister we'll need to get a refund once we get home. She overheard and said 'you can't have a refund.' I said let's see. She went to speak to someone and then returned to say we could have a full refund and choose to stay elsewhere, or she could put us in another room with working AC. By this time it was getting late so we took the room, which did have working AC. Returning later, however, we only realised that the AC unit's pipe was feeding out of the window which had to be open. So there was an open window, on a ground floor room onto the street, for 2 females. Real safety concerns. So we had to shut the window and swelter all night. We found this really unacceptable, coupled with a toilet that stank of stale smoke, so unfortunately would not recommend.
