Thank goodness for downtown Grand Rapids

Upon checkin i was expecting a riverview room which is what I thought i had booked, only to find that the standard king does not exist on the east side (river side) of the building. Next the restaurant that i was expecting to dine at while there, was closed for renovations. The new management decided to close the restaurant right in the middle of peak tourist season. This hotel is an oasis, 8 minutes drive to most fine dinning. Then i find out the first morning that the breakfast that was offered when i booked the room was also not offered. Apparently must have been part of the restaurant duties. And finally, only 1 ice machine for the entire hotel.

I saw a lot of negative views, but I felt the hotel was a good value for what we paid. The room was clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The room was partially updated, and a great location.

Nasty!

The room was very dirty, the tv did not work, the remote was broken, I told the front desk, we were there for 2 days, they did not do anything about it. They said they had a bar, it’s been closed for over 6 months. Just a terrible place.

arrived to find that the systems were down for the entire hotel but offered free cancellations. I was charged for both rooms and still trying to get refunds and had to pay another hotel to have somewhere to stay.

Our stay was good! Our room was clean and staff were very friendly. There was only an issue with my check in but it was resolved quickly and we got the room we had booked. We ate at a local brewery and had a room facing the river. We stayed on the top floor and there were some noisy pipes clanging i am assuming was from the AC unit. But other than that it was worth the price we paid. Will stay again.
