Unexpected enchantment

This hotel is magnificent in its own charming way! A beautiful dreamland that somebody put incredible love and care into building many years ago. To me, the aging buildings just add to the timeless charm. How many hotels come with their own tiny little train?? I was enchanted!

Love the quiet atmosphere & the amazing scenery. What I didn’t like is the old smell in the room & it was clean but not completely. Dishwasher & coffee machine did not work, there was only one remote for 2 tvs & the oven was dirty. That being said we hv stayed 2 separate time & enjoy ourselves each time & plan to go back with the family in November. Just needs small tweaks.

Pricing is super reasonable for the area, and the place is just beautiful nestled in the trees! I wish I had the need to stay over in Grass Valley more, I would stay here all the time!

There were guest staying there methamphetamines, they hit and run my two friends cars with sever damage needing to deal with police reports and there was no compensation to our experience. Also both cabins we rented we in rough shape, smelled of cigarette smoke and dirty as well as no accommodations of pots, pans or cutlery for the kitchen in our cabins. It's a great location but needs to provide a clean and safe environment for their customers in order for us to return again.

The place is in a beautiful area. There just has not been proper maintenance done for years.Carpets are frayed with holes. They carpets need cleaning at least. Downstairs toilet was grimy around edges. Kitchen stove was greasy. We didn't cook. Patio chairs were dirty with cigarette ashe on them. I went with the expectation of loving it. I couldn't wait to leave.

Here's a heads up for all of you: DO NOT think that if you're running late on check-out day that they'll give you an extra half hour to leave. I was told that if I checked out past the 11 AM time I would be charged another $25 plus tax. And if I checked out later than noon I would be charged for an entire new day. I've never been given that kind of ultimatum from any other place.

They don't actually have wifi like they advertise

Nice place. They advertise they have wifi, but that is not true. Yes, they have wifi enabled but it does not work, and the front desk let me know that is always the case. False advertising; I needed it to work from the road -and would have been great to work from the comfy desk in my nice room. But there was no wifi that was useful. Please don't advertise wifi unless it actually works. Otherwise, I would recommend. Here's a pretty waterfall on the property.

We were charged for 3 nights when we only stayed two nights. Now the staff won't return a phone call and reimburse us for the one night. I booked this through Trivago/expedia and can't get ahold of you either for a refund or credit. We have been screwed by this. I want a response ASAP.
