the fact that help was ALWAYS there the staff in reception are far above the quality I usually find in my frequent travels around G.B. I am 87 years old and last stayed at this hotel 24 years ago so I decided to turn the clock back and visit again, It was well worth the244 mile journey for me, a total joy of a visit. Lovely hotel,staff are excellent,the only down side was room was outside of main hotel which isn’t good when it is raining like it was when we were there,room comfortable bathroom small shower head could do with a descale but was ok as only staying one night, breakfast was very good,would stay again

Staff were very helpful and attentive. Room was always clean and tidy. Stopped eating breakfast here as the quality was not good. They need to get better sausages, and their smoked salmon & scrambled eggs were not nice.

Hotel great, restaurant not so!

The hotel room itself was lovely. The staff were great, let down by the restaurant on the 1st evening of my stay people were coming in after me, having 2 course and leaving while I was still waiting for one course. I complained so they offered me a free drink which, after 15 more mins didn’t arrive. I told them to forget it and went somewhere else for a meal. The girl on restaurant check in looked like she’d lost £50 and found £1! Credit where it’s due though, the breakfasts were great.

The staff were friendly and helpful however could not be given a key upon arrival as machine out of order. Then when we finally checked in to our room, the TV did not work. The lady from reception tried everything to sort it but couldn’t. So we had to move rooms. Disappointed that a double bed literally means a standard double bed. Would have expected it to be 2 twins pushed together which most hotels do to give flexibility and the extra sleeping room compared to a double. Despite the lovely outside image and grounds I would say the rooms are on a par with the Premier Inn down the road except the bed is more comfortable at the Premier Inn.
