The Rex is certainly an Instagram-ready property and I'd love to leave a great review. However, I cannot recommend booking through Hotels.com for this property.
I booked a room/rate and was contacted via text that "we are a dog friendly property, if you are traveling with a four-legged friend please let us know so we can make a note on your reservation." Other properties typically ask this to make sure the room has dog bowls or treats, and to request the advertised pet fee.
Instead, I was texted back that the room I booked was not pet friendly and I needed to upgrade rooms for an undisclosed charge. There was no option for a more expensive pet-friendly room on Hotels.com when I booked. Additionally, I could not cancel the original reservation because it was made through Hotels.com. As a result, I agreed to the upgrade charge.
Upon my arrival, there was no one present at the property (arrived at 6PM), and I had no code or room assignment. There is no service at the parking lot, so that added to the issue. I later learned the "upgraded" room was essentially the same room (had a couch rather than a bar). It was a disappointing customer experience.
