The Barcelo ia dated as a hotel compared to others in the area. The premium room allows patrons to 9th floor access but that has limited hours and not even snacks in between. Breakfast buffet is just okay as many of the hot foods appear day old or are covered wirh red bell peppers to appear tastier. The rooms no longer have minibars either. For the price, its just average.

Everything about our stay was excellent right from the moment of the free shuttle from the airport. Great checkin, very nice room, excellent bed and one of the best breakfasts!! Great location too. Everyone friendly.

First time at a Barceló & hope it’s not the last!
It was a great stay! Very comfortable accommodations! The only noise was the occasional airplane! We were very close to the airport, so that was expected. But at night it was very quiet! The lobby was huge, multiple conference rooms, great pool & large jacuzzi! Huge buffet breakfast with plenty of choices and changed daily. It was within walking distance to many great restaurants, supermarkets and fast food options. When originally stayed one night as part of a tour, but didn’t hesitate to stay multiple nights when we returned to Guatemala City from the tour! We would most definitely stay at the Barcelóagain!

The Barcelo is a convenient option if you're staying in Guatemala City. It's significantly cheaper for large suite than Hyatt or Westin while being in the same area. We had a loft suite with steps to the bedroom and full bath, with a full living room area and 1.75 bath below. It made meeting with a business partner easy, along with sharing a room so my husband and I could have our own bathrooms. The hotel and room is very dated, and for being a Barcelo hotel it should be invested in for renovations, but it was very clean. Getting an Uber around town was easy from this location, and conveniently near the airport for an early morning flight.

When I booked my stay, I specifically booked a king size bed in a suite. We arrived and their shuttle wasn’t available so we came by taxi and they gave us a double bed, we explained and were given only an option for a king size bed in 3rd floor a terrible run down room with a view to a roof and a post.. the alternative was pay more and get a newer room with street view, all terrible options. we made 5 trips down to reception as they kept messing our keys. The rooms bathtub had acrylic enclosure not sealed and I almost fell coming out of the shower and the noise on the ac didn’t let us sleep, we couldn’t get ahold of anyone from hotels.com as we wanted to leave next day exhausted and upset. The hotel refused to reimburse us the last night and alternatively assigned us a decent room. Needless to say that the rooms you show on line are a complete misrepresentation of what one gets at the hotel, if i book one bed that is what I expect to get and your policies should include some sort of remediation if the hotel does not comply with the arrangements made. Please make sure in the future to fix the communication problem for people checking in late as the night attendant was not only rude but very entitled and dismissive with us, that is not the attention that a decent hotel should provide to us as customers.

Checking in was smooth & pleasant with the person dealing with us but the process was getting to him was tooth pulling. Room was both comfortable and clean. Room and toilet amenities were more the adequate. House cleaning staff were excellent! Security staff at hotel entrances were excellent. Only complaint is the attitude and response of the front desk when we approach for enquiries. They would see us but carry on their conversation before even thinking of attending to their guests. And when they do attend to their guests, like us for example, we were de4alt with the wrong info. Oh well....it is what it is but I felt it should be mentioned. This is a lovely hotel and we would stay here again for sure if the front desk staff would tweak their behaviour. Recommended!
