The area was quiet, the location was quaint and best described by me as a boutique hotel. The staff was amazingly attentive. We had a wonderful stay and would recommend the hotel not only for the accommodations, but also the craft drinks and the restaurant. A+

I have been to a ton of hotels for business and personal like this time and this was one of the better places I have stayed. People were very friendly. Room was nice. Parking price was great and was very close to the beach and very safe. Really enjoyed it

From the initial reservation, to the arrival and checkin, to the stay accommodation the staff was amazing! Very cute boutique hotel. It was a vibe for a quick get away.

Fantastic place!!!

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself was really neat, very clean, and new. The attached restaurant and bar was nice. We stopped in for a few cocktails and enjoyed the outdoor patio. Great atmosphere! Overall very satisfied with our stay and would highly recommend.

We were so glad we stayed here!

The hotel has only been open for six months, but has the feel of a seasoned establishment. The fact that it is in an historical building gives it a special ambiance you won't find in a new one. Also, it is located among other historical buildings, and the area seems to be making a comeback, with renovations here and there. The facility was clean; the bed comfortable; the walk-in shower was a definite plus; the bedroom was large and with no carpet, the air freshener was aromatic and not trying to cover up that "old carpet smell" you get in a lot of hotels; and the desk clerk, pleasant and helpful. I do have three inexpensive recommendations, two for the bathroom and one in the bedroom. First, since the lavatory & cabinet are not located in the bathroom, there is nowhere to put personal care items when you shower, so a small 2 or 3-tiered shelf is needed. In addition, the bathroom needs a hook on the bathroom door or wall, for clothing. In the bedroom, a small, folding luggage rack would be helpful. We were celebrating a wedding anniversary, and are glad we came across Hotel Vela. We'll definitely keep it on the list of hotels to stay in, when we travel from our home in Louisiana, to the MS Gulf Coast.

What a pleasant surprise and beautiful property. I love the Deco styling. The bathroom is well stocked and clean. The decor is spot on. Parking was easy and the staff was helpful. I will definitely stay again!

The property is a lot smaller. Which should allow better attention to detail. 2 additional charges on my card after i left. I was aware of parking fee but not courtesy stay fee. The mini fridge and coffee machine are located in the bathrooms

The Pearl of Gulfport

Awesome restaurant on the ground floor. Get the half chicken and a shrimp cocktail. Brand new hotel. Infinitely joyful reception people.

The hotel Vela is very cool and our room was beautiful, spotlessly clean and very well appointed. Even had clothing steamer in the closet - nice extra touch! Also loved the Nespresso machine in the room. We really enjoyed our stay!
