The hotel is attached to the Hakodate train station, but also within walking distance from many tourist attractions. The view from our room was spectacular, overlooking the bay. The hotel and its amenities appear to be new and in great condition.

Good, solid hotel. Right next to the JR Hakodate Station. Gift Shop, 7-11, plus a few restaurants in the station. There isn’t much to do in Hakodate, 2 nights should be enough. No bathtub in the room. Shower stall, separate toilet and sink. There is a public bathhouse on property. Also a lounge with nice views. Very near the ocean. Seafood lovers paradise, if you like raw seafood.

Check-in was fast and simple. The rooms and facilities were clean. The location is fantastic if you are traveling via JR train. They also provide a paid parking at the carpark next to it.

Good stay

Very close to the JR station, so it’s very easy to access. The staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. The female public pool felt slightly unclean. Other than that, the room is comfortable, no bottled water given but you can boil the water yourself.

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at JR Inn Hakodate! The location is unbeatable, right next to Hakodate Station, making it super convenient for exploring the city and catching the morning market just a short walk away. The rooms were spotless, modern, and surprisingly spacious, with comfy beds that ensured a great night’s sleep. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, always going the extra mile to help with recommendations and directions. The breakfast buffet was a highlight—fresh, varied, and packed with local Hokkaido specialties. The free onsen-style bath was a relaxing treat after a day of sightseeing. Overall, fantastic value for money and a perfect base for enjoying Hakodate. Highly recommend!
