Excellent stay. Literally a 5 minute walk from Hakone-Yamoto train station. Close to restaurants, buses and trains. Very clean and very friendly, helpful staff. Good food selection at breakfast buffet.

The room itself is in pristine shape and has a beautiful view. However, the Japanese dinner meal add on was disappointing.

The hotel seems like you are in the 80s and for the price k was hoping for a more updated hotel. The Osden was good but it did have a moldy smell. The views from the hotel were breathtaking and it was walkable to public transportation bus train. The breakfast was ok although it did have many options there was limited fruits and scrambled eggs were super runny. The worst of my experience at this hotel was at check out..and the fact that for some reason we did not find one hotel card… note that we did not leave the hotel in our stay and it has to be somewhere in the room, that being said they charged us 5000 yen for the lost card. No one mentioned this charge ever and apparently it was in a fine print of a long paper they give you at the beginning. I thought it was unfair and unprecedented. Overall Was not impressed especially for this price and also note I stay at hotels all over the world for work and I am not one to provide reviews.

We had a fantastic stay at this property. The location can’t be better: near the main shopping/restaurants in the area and the train station. Happy we stayed here rather than up in Gora, which would have made travel and food more difficult. We got a private bath, which we enjoyed. We also splurged on the kaiseiki meal, which we enjoyed immensely. Breakfast was also very good: more western options than we expected. We had the updated Japanese/Western room and thought it was luxurious. I’ve seen others complain thing were worn and old-fashioned but we didn’t really find that the case. Highly recommended

We returned here after staying here last year because we really enjoyed our previous experience. Our room was spacious and even though we did not have a full river facing view, it was still quite scenic. Last year, we visited during the Sakura season and it was beautiful.

The location close to Yumoto station was convenient with two elevators to make it easy. The riverside walk was picturesque and refreshing and the restaurants were very reasonably priced with great food (Unagi was amazing). The hotel was a bit disappointing. I didn’t enjoy the breakfast experience. A dark room with so-so food and overly officious staff who seemed disapproving. The bed was like a wooden plank. But the place was safe and quiet and the elderly Japanese guests were charming.

The best quality about this property is its proximity to the Yumoto station, and how easy it is to start the exploration of Hakone. The property also have spa rooms that can be booked, at a discount for hotel guests. It's just very grand-looking, and rooms are spacious. Front desk is very nice and accommodating. Breakfast was a buffet, great selection of Japanese and continental offerings. It was so good! Overall, I'd definitely recommend it to friends.

I stayed 1 night at this hotel. I really like that it’s located close to the train and bus station. We had a Western/Japanese style room which is very spacious compared to the rooms I’ve stayed in throughout my trip in Japan. The breakfast was amazing. However, I was totally disappointed when I was told the is in NO outdoor onsen, which was very strange since their website stated that they have both indoors and outdoor bath. If you are looking to experience the outdoors bath, this is not the place to stay.

This was a lovely and very convenient hotel to stay at. It was a 3-4 min walk from Hakone-Yumoto station for the train and buses. The property is beautiful. The public bath is a nice touch even though this is not a ryokan. Two items to note: 1) most activities are a bit further away from the hotel so definitely get the Hakone freepass to travel. 2) a lot of things shut down by 6pm. I wasn't prepared for this as a night person. Plan to be out and about early and to have an early dinner (or use the nearby konbini). That aside, great location and hotel.

Definitely recommended hotel

Yumoto Fujiya Hotel has a really convenient location being right next to the Yumoto Hakone Station. It is worth booking the private onsen for convenience. We stayed 3 nights and the breakfast served are the same. But since it is buffet style, I guess you can vary what you eat each day. Do get the 2 or 3 days Hakone Free pass as it covers all your transportation by bus, train or cruise. Do take the cruise in Lake Ashi and catch the majestic sight of Mr Fuji. Our traditional japanese room with futon beds for 3 were huge and comfortable.
