Stayed 3 days: good hotel location, pretty lobby decor, & staff were quick to repair leaking toilet tank seeping water onto bathroom floor when we arrived, & quick to restore electricity when fuse blew while using hair dryer. No daily restaurant in hotel (weekends only) & despite Hearthstone website promising 'breakfast included' when we booked, it was not. Apologetic staff said they kept requesting hotel chain owners to correct the website, removing false advertising like "breakfast included". Felt sorry for staff, Unnecessary disappointment for guests. OK value for room cost. We appreciated elevator taking us to the 3rd floor (view obscured by algae-fogged broken seal windows ). As seniors, liked having a grab bar in the shower-- a strange omission in many hotel property bathrooms we visited on this Nova Scotia trip. Pleasant stay overall.

Not at all what I expected. Boutique would be correct if you like outdated East Indian decor in poor taste. Room furniture and accents were gaudy and mismatched. It was clean and had a kitchenette. Bed was comfortable. Hotel is in older part of town location facing an old apartment building.

We were very disappointed in this property. The description on Expedia is totally misleading. The hotel does NOT have a view of the harbour. The facility is out dated. Our room was not very clean. Towels were threadbare at best. Housekeeping started vacuuming in front of our room at 8:00 am. They wanted our used bath towels at 9:00 am. When we returned to the room later that day, we noticed that they removed every towel used but only left one threadbare bath towel. The air conditioner unit sounded like a freight train.

The first room we were given the headboard and footboard were all cracked up the sink you had to wash at was a kitchen sink and taps the fan in the bathroom didn’t work there was bird crap all over the window the seal in the window was not any good so there was moisture between the panes of glass there was a poor job of silicone around the window the second room was better but the bathroom fan was so noisy that you couldn’t have it on for fear of waking up everybody else in the building the bathroom floor was filthy behind the door and when showering the water would go from hot to cold and then really hot. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone

After a long day travelling from PEI, we tried to have a late night shower. The shower drain instantly backed up with water. The drain was 100% plugged. Hair was backing up into the tub. Considered calling to swap rooms (in “hindsight”, we should have) but it was already 11:00pm and just needed to sleep. Mentioned it to staff at checkout the next day and they had very little concern about it. We don’t recommend this hotel.

This hotel has "great bones" but it seems to have fallen into disrepair. Our room had a few minor issues (toilet running, perfume smell on comforter) which the manager graciously rectified. The restaurant offerings were mostly deep-fired pub food and there was no breakfast at all. Staff were pleasant and efficient. One unavoidable element is the ghetto motel across the street, making safety a concern.

1. No hot water throughout my stay 2. Bathroom sink was clogged and took forever to drain the water. 3.Room floor wasn't moped, it was quite sticky and dirty. 4. Went 4 times down from 3rd floor to see front desk because front desk wasn't answering. Upon asking he said you hang up while he picked up. Not welcomed environment front desk and he didn't reach out to manager (Clara) as it was quite a big issue with water outage. In the morning Clara mentioned that I wasn't reached out otherwise issue would have resolved. I heard there will be some amount refunded, but i haven't seen anything yet. To say the least it was worst experience i ever had and i will not recommend anyone to stay in this hotel

Inexpensive and it shows. There was no hot water from the time we checked in Sunday until Tuesday morning at 0600. The staff did not tell us when we checked in that there was no hot water or offer any refund or give us the option to go somewhere else. The staff kept giving us different times when the water would be fixed and it wasn't. We found out by accident when we tried it Tuesday morning.There is a pub with slot machines and it is loud as our room was right above the outside area where people smoked.
