Doors don't close completely all the time

I already made a review for this classic king room so I will just add something I forgot to mention. The doors here do not close correctly by themselves. For some reason you have to pull or push it to engage the lock. I read about another woman in the reviews who mentioned this so I'm glad she did because I would have been leaving the room unlocked for the entire day. This is a issue that needs to be fixed immediately! I've never had this happen at any other hotel I've stayed at.

The guest is not a priority here!

This bathroom is a HUGE downgrade from the classic king. There was about an inch between the wall and my knees when sitting in the toilet because it's such a small space. The toilet itself is small also so it's uncomfortable to get onto it and just sitting on it in general. You have such a massive room and this is what you come up with for the bathroom? There also is very little room to place your toiletries because there is only a small shelf and 75% if that is taken up by existing stuff like the kleenex box and hotel products. The shower is great except the drain doesn't work well so you stand in a pool of water. Why is it so complicated to keep a drain working correctly? The other problem is the AC unit. It's installed right in front of the desk so I had to turn it off just to work. As a result, the curtains can't close so the room is not blacked out at 6am which is another frustration. Also, what is the point of having a view of everything blocking the windows (desk/sofa)? It's like zero effort was made to make an experience that is pleasant for the guest. I did enjoy the size of the room but the decor is hideous. Nothing matches. There was also paint chipping off the bathroom door and frame. Again, clearly maintenance is not a priority here. Also, the eco policy at this hotel is a complete failure. You really should consult other hotels on how they work because this hotel can learn a lot.

On day 3 of a 3 night stay I left the room at 11am, came back at 4pm, room not cleaned. Saw housekeeping close by so I told the room attendant i needed 10 minutes then I'm out again. She knocked after 5 mins, i asked her to wait for a fewminutes and she said that she's leaving now. She gave me towels and I handed her the garbage at the door. Room not cleaned that day. Issues with check-in as well, previously commented. Too much weed smoke on the veranda at the front of the hotel.

The location of this hotel is its biggest asset. It is a short walk to the Citadel and across the street from the Public Gardens. We arrived on a Sunday and there was no valet or assistance with our luggage or parking our car. No one was at the front desk, but they energed from an office . We were given vague instructions on where to park and how to access our room. Unfortunately, we did not navigate parking garage well and ended up in the adjacent mall and had to walk around the block with our luggage in tow. It appeared that we were not the only ones confused by the maze to parking and the elevators as we encounter other guests with similar frustrations The room was typical, the bathroom was small and the view was of the rear alley. The lobby and porch sitting are lovely, but not worth the cost considering the lack in customer service.

Pleasant and comfortable stay.

Great Halifax location across from the beautiful public gardens. Many restaurants and points of interest nearby. Short walk to the boardwalk or Citadel. Well maintained classic hotel property. Hotel has a historical feel which fits the Halifax history. Very pleasant staff. Hotel has nice amenities. Overall a good value.
