Cancelled Room

We had chosen the pay at hotel on arrival, the hotel cancelled our booking at 11am on the morning of our arrival, citing wrong cc details (old cc that expired end of June) that they emailed and called us and as we didn’t respond - we where flying, then did the most obvious thing of just cancelling our room. When we arrived at the hotel to check in was the first time we were made aware of the issue. What was more galling, when we were being told it’s hotel policy by the manager over the phone, a hotel guest came down to reception, to pay for his room. Only positive was the reception staff securing us a room in another property- £120 more than we should have paid.

Shower was not hot, fan in bathroom didn’t work. No microwave. Only one blanket although two beds. The reception staff didn’t greet me first once. I said hello first every time. The door key card didn’t work three times and had to be reset each time. Good selection of tea and coffee provided in the room. Mattress was comfortable but pillows less so. Just felt a bit tired and in need of some refreshing.

Really good quiet location with free, and easy parking options. Hop, skip and a jump to two supermarkets plus an easy walk home from a night out. Bathroom a little tired. Seem to always get the room with the cracked basin. Decent sized fridge is great. Not multi storied making it easy to come & go quickly. Always enjoy our stay at the Ventura.
