Great location - although lots of stairs if that's an issue. The property is beautiful and within easy walking distance to downtown Highlands. The lobby and bar looked really nice, and we were looking forward to coming back from dinner and grabbing a cocktail, and just hanging out, but were told at 730pm that there was a private party and that those areas were closed off to guests. I don't think I have ever heard of closing the lobby to guests - pretty disappointing.

This hotel has a lot of classic charm, atmosphere and the staff was very friendly. Maybe I wasn’t in the right mindset for the place but my room was small and not very functional. They do a lot of things right but the tiny room thing was very frustrating. If you stay here get one of the bigger rooms and you’ll have a great stay.

Great location. However, the room was beyond tiny. There is nowhere to sit, the bathroom is extremely unusual…and small. Two people barely fit into the room together…bed was much too soft and not comfortable. I would not stay again. We had to dodge each other trying to get dressed…honestly we laughed the whole trip at how ridiculous was…as we are not big people at all. Sorry, but not for us.

We wanted to love this. We stayed in the bunkhouse- that was what was available. It was NOISY. Think nyc apartment. The bathroom would use some TLC. Checking in was not friendly or seamless. Seemed like there was not a clear place to go and that we were in the way.

We enjoyed our stay at the Highlander Mountain Home -spending our 25th anniversary there. We hope to return soon. Sarah was delightful and attentive. She provided answers to all of our questions. We had enjoyable conversations with the restaurant manager (and learned of her family’s long history in the community) as well as the staff members - Maggie, Abbie and Graham. The location was perfectly situated in the middle of town. Highlands is a wonderful community with gorgeous nature surrounding it.

We enjoyed our stay at HMH. The tavern food was delicious, the room was comfortable, and the location was perfect for exploring Highlands. The HMH bikes were a fun way to see the town.
