The biggest and most disturbing experience was finding a used tampon in the hot tub. While I understand things happen, but this was absolutely disgusting for my children to see. They did not even drain the hot tub. I was told they cleaned the hot tub upon my husband mentioning to the staff, but that is disgusting and I would expect it completely drained. If this was the only issue, I probably would have chalked it up to a one off issue.
The second thing is that the website advertises that kids eat breakfast and lunch free and get 50% off dinner with an adult entree purchase. This was a huge selling point for us because my husband and I are not big lunch eaters, so the kids eating free sounded fantastic. I even called to confirm this was accurate before our stay, and they confirmed yes! Fast forward to our stay, we order the kids lunch by the pool and were told adult meals need to be purchased for lunch too in order to get the kids free. We spoke to the manager at the Buoy Bar that day who advised us they were receiving several complaints about this and they were addressing it with corporate. He said he would make sure we did not pay for any of the kids meals during our stay. I thought okay, that’s fantastic! The next day at the pool, I brought this up to the manager when ordering my kids lunch and she actually laughed at me saying the other manager doesn’t know what he’s talking about and it is what it is.
