Odor in room

We booked two nights, but only stayed one. There was a stale, musty odor in the room, that no amount of febreeze and disinfectant could mask. My husband killed a roach that was crawling on the floor. The beds were not comfortable, and my sheets had stains. The pool was well kept; it was the best part about the hotel. The location is also pretty great.

The rooms aren’t sealed very well because even though it was a 100% smoke free property, our room reeked of pot the first night we were there. So someone in one of the rooms around us must’ve been smoking. I alerted the front desk and they said there was nothing they could do about it nor could they switch me rooms. The standard rooms didn’t even come equipped with a hairdryer.

We could not wait to leave this room. It was dirty and smelled. Front door was sticking and had to throw shoulder in to it to open. Light over vanity did not work. Hair dryer not working. Bathroom was dirty. We won’t be back. We stayed at this hotel 20 years ago and it is a shell of what it used to be.

got locked out of room bc key cards deactivated in the morning when we went to breakfast across the street still had 55 min until check out got fixed at office. went right back to check out no one in office lots of ppl trying to check out some locked out of their rooms too she never came back after 30 min we left. I called gm of property from card I picked up he told me they couldn't email me a receipt of my room bc res was made through third party but assured me I wasn't charged their security deposit or safe fee (stupid to charge daily safe fee for something in room) he said he only had one employee and didn't seem to care about my call asked if I was finished bc he wanted to hang up

I stayed for 9 nights and never received housekeeping, despite multiple requests. Towel service was denied, and I was told to get them myself. The room was dirty and had roaches. I had to buy my own toilet paper and toiletries. The hotel also charged a safe use fee and only partially refunded my deposit. Poor service, unsanitary conditions—I do not recommend this hotel.

My first stay at a Red Roof Inn was pleasant. The price was affordable and our 1 bedroom suite was large for our party of 4. Some updates are needed but if you just want to experience Hilton Head and your budget is tight consider staying here. There’s no bells and whistles. A few guests had large dogs, but they were quiet and no barking and leashed, Staff is very nice and helpful!

My Vacation

We have been coming to HHI way before it became known as a tourist attaction and have always stayed here so, If you want a Mid-Island location to stay this is it. The Staff (Mr. Mike and Ms. Jessica) where very professional and handled My Check in and Out like a breeze. The room itself served its purpose for the 4 nights we stayed. The Motel is across from some very good eateries including The Comedy Club and Nectar you can walk there it you want. Also The Dry Dock Restaurant and Bar (which we ate at our last night and will be back..very good) is in walking distance. The Inn was very quite and the Pool was refreshing. The Motel itself is a little outdated BUT very well maintain. Internet was on spot but the TV stations were a bit of a challenge to fine but really who needs a TV when you are at Hilton Head Island, right. We will be back soon and plan on staying again at The Red Roof Inn.

Front office was open and no one was in there for 35 minutes when I arrived at 10pm at night. Anyone could have had access to anything in the front office where peoples’ information cards were sitting. The phone rang twice. I seriously thought maybe I should have called 911 because I thought someone might have robbed the place or something. No towels were in the room and got supplied 2 for the 3 night stay with 3 people. The room had roaches in it and the floor made our socks turn black. Totally gross.

EVERYTHING WAS BAD, STARTING WITH NO HOUSEKEEPING FOR 4 DAYS AND 3 NIGHTS, NO SERVICE, NOT EVEN FRESH TOWELS, NO SOAP, NO NOTHING, WITH A BAD CIGARETTE SMELL. THIS WAS THE WORST PLACE I'VE BEEN. I WILL NOT RECOMMEND RED ROOF TO ANYONE.
