Our room was no different than any lower end hotel or motel. It was fine for one night but I wouldn't wanted to have stayed longer. Note we were not in a larger water front room and don't know what they are like.

We booked a driftwood room, didn't know until we got there it was totally separate from the rest of beachfront resort. 2nd floor room, uncomfortably hot. No aircon only thing available was a fan. Nice clean tidy accommodation otherwise.

Clean room with a comfortable bed and good pressure in the shower. Close to the beach and all shops. Dined at beachside restaurant for dinner. Had an excellent meal and lovely view of the beach. Hokitika is an interesting place to visit.

Room was exceptionally hot with no aircon. The fridge did not work. The shower nozzle was a trickle of water. The shower was cramped. If you require a budget stay, it's a shade better than a backpack.

Decent Location, but the Rooms Disappoint

While the location was convenient, the overall experience left much to be desired. The rooms were extremely hot, with no air conditioning to provide relief. Although fans were provided, they were practically useless, making it uncomfortable, especially during warmer days. Additionally, the rooms felt quite small, which was particularly challenging as we were traveling with a child. On the positive side, the location is great—close to the beach and within walking distance of some fantastic restaurants. However, if you're hoping to catch a sunset, you'll need to drive about 1 km west. Parking was ample, which was a plus. While the location is a strong point, the lack of comfort in the rooms would make me reconsider staying here again.
