2/10 Terrible

Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
The only good thing about Outrigger Beachcomber is its location. I booked one night first (I’m an Amex Platinum client, so I know better). A kind man with short hair checked me in. But as I was about to shower, I found three long black hairs (I’m blonde). A cheerful girl apologized and “upgraded” me to a junior suite: same room, just higher floor with a Toto toilet. I feel sorry for anyone who pays for that.
Since I slept well, I extended. The next morning the desk told me the hotel was full but “if you find something online, go ahead.” So I did: apparently they prefer paying commissions. The only option was an “Accessible King Waikiki.” With my husband in Korea, $800 for a fake suite made no sense.
Disaster followed. The long-haired male agent who checked me in for the 3 nights was so rude and said since I paid the lowest category I “deserved” that room. When I entered: balcony facing the exhaust system, breadcrumbs on the sofa by the bed, fryer fumes so strong my bikini smelled like French fries. I asked to be moved. His answer? All rooms in that category are on that floor. Inside: curly hair on my pillow, sheets never changed in three nights.
Checkout: the woman at the desk refused to issue my invoice for the first night: either didn’t know how or was too lazy, I know Opera, it takes 2 minutes. I even offered to come back later. She argued instead.
The only bright spot: the Bellman (I think Steve), Hawaiian with Japanese origins, always kind. He alone deserved my money!
