The host said he did not work with Orbitz even though I paid orbitz for my stay so I had to personally pay the host for my stay which he charged me over $100 over the orbitz price. Also he was messaging me through the orbitz app and still claimed he do not “work with orbitz” and said orbitz was a fake booking. I don’t know if this was a scam or not. Also kayaks and bikes were an extra charge- most places this was included.

Although I booked an over-water bungalow, I was put in the only bungalow on stilts over land. At first I was disappointed, but once I realized the only two over-water bungalows were right beside the kitchen/shared dining area, and the shared bathroom, I was relieved. Getting used to the shared bathroom was challenging: - the toilet tank must be refilled by each guest, with water from a ground tap in the dining area - it takes 2 lg water bottles each time - the bathroom sink has no running water (you have to use a bottle filled from the ground tap to brush your teeth etc) - the shower only has hot water for 20 sec at a time, for 2 spurts - then we must ensure to let the hot water completely run out or if we turn the tap off too soon the entire faucet could "explode from pressure" Host Gwenn is warm, funny, always happy to help - definitely pay for the dinners! He is an excellent cook & will offer you herbal teas picked fresh from the garden & homemade honey from his hives. Pros: - by far the quietest place i visited in French Polynesia (no roosters, and the owner's dog is silent) - walking distance to the most beautiful beach on earth - walking distance to fruit stands & ice cream stand - biking distance to town center & marae Cons: - my "queen size bed" was actually two wins pushed together, and was quite uncomfortable - only one very uncomfortable pillow - no screens on the one window, open-air at the top of the ceiling so there are LOTS of insects/mosquito/spiders

Hostel with resort prices
I couldn’t help but feel nickel and dimed at B & Bee. The host charges for absolutely everything. I understand shuttle expenses are high on the island and water is probably scarce, but charging $40 US per person for a home-cooked meal is just excessive; not even the yacht club in town charges that. On both Tahiti and Mo’orea, our friendly hosts made surfboards and kayaks available at no cost. Here you must pay—which is even worse because you are trapped if you have no mode of transportation. You either have to rent a car or pay $30 each time you need to go anywhere ($60 round trip—even into town, which is only 5 miles away). Online it says “Fridge upon request,” but it will cost you $10 per day. The worst is the complimentary breakfast. The host says it will be ready at 8:30, but then doesn’t have it out until 9 or so—and it’s just bread with jam and fruit! One morning the host left at 8:15 to get bread then returned around 9 empty handed. Apparently, there were no fresh baguettes to be found so we had to eat his “emergency bread,” which was basically stale bread (think croutons). We each got two the size of a mini banana. Then he had the gall to try and charge us for an extra coffee that day (you only get 1 cup with breakfast—apparently, any more is an additional charge). After explaining that we were not aware of this charge—with our complimentary breakfast!—he reversed the fee, but it’s still irksome. Also, you're limited to 40-second showers, so be prepared.
