This is a beautiful hotel continently located in the heart of Istanbul but we were disappointed to discover that we had been given a room on the “smoking floor” of the hotel without our knowledge. Cigarette smoke came through the vents all night and the hotel was full so we couldn’t have another room. A 5-star hotel should have a policy to ask customers their preference for smoking or non-smoking rooms. Management had little to say in this issue and didn’t provide a discount on the room because it was paid through Expedia.

Divan Istanbul is the choice!
Divan Istanbul is the perfect hotel experience. It's location, luxury, comfort, service and staff are all excellent. Effe at the front desk was especially helpful in our early check in and extended check out due to flight schedules. Shafa at the concierge desk went above and beyond to help arrange last minute Turkish sweets as souvenirs when we checked out. The breakfast buffet is the highlight of this hotel, and features classical Turkish cheeses, olives and honey.

If you want a room full of dust flying around in the air, a carpet that is absolutely bever vaccumed and dont mind waking up in the middle of the night because you can breath. Thats the right hotel to stay in.

The staff speak poor english, the food is just terrible. Breakfast was awful. I felt i am getting sick everytime i ate at the restaurant. I had a surgery so i was forced to stay indoors and its like i had to eat what available at the hotel and i could not go out for food. Mere 400 ml water costs 4 euros. Just because we stay at the so call 5 star hotel does not mean you charge what you wish
