Conor was amazingly helpful despite our late arrival (nearly 1am) and the service was fantastic. Truly a great little hotel in a relaxing little town, also very close to what seems like a hundred vineyards.
Charming funky hotel staffed with kind wonderful people. With only a few rooms, we felt like we were treated like royalty. The facility shows the signs of its history, but it a beautiful way, showing the depth of history. It was quiet and soulful...I highly recommend it for a zen-like stay.

In spite of its creaky old floors, we loved this historic old hotel. Built in 1879, you are transported back in time to the Gold Rush. Although the hotel has been updated over the years, it is furnished in a style that is appropriate for the age of the hotel. It even has great wifi! The staff here was wonderful and we were served a delicious breakfast each morning. I highly recommend a stay at the Imperial Hotel and we would definitely stay here again.
Very good small but historic hotel in the quiet town of Amador City. Amador City is small but historic and well-situated for visiting the gold mining areas and the local wineries. Very and helpful staff. Very good restaurant for dinner with a great selection of local wines. Two breakfast options...hot or cold with hot breakfast varying each day.The hotel made us breakfast boxes when we had to leave early. Rooms were good size and comfortable with period furnishings. The hotel operates like a B&B in that there is no "front desk" but the staff were very helpful in answering any questions about local sites. Highly recommended, especially, given its economical rates.
We had an amazing time. The Imperial is filled with history, the rooms are lovely, the bar is amazing and the food some of the best we've ever had. We can't wait to come back.
We loved our stay at the Imperial Hotel. It was a great place to get away and a wonderful small town. The staff was very friendly and the old time feel of the hotel was wonderful.
Stop over on our way to hiking adventures. We were hoping to take in the town but most shops only open Thursday thru Sunday. Loved the bigger towels and history.
The Imperial had the most comfortable bed and pillows I’ve ever slept in in a hotel. The place was clean, but a bit small. We had a king bed which took up almost the entire room. Breakfast was ready at the time we chose to eat breakfast. Never have I ever been able to tell the kitchen when I would be down for breakfast. That was a nice touch to this hotel!!
I like it because it reminded me of the old west. Built in 1879. Just the basic necessities in the room. They had a nice bar, very good dinner menu and for breakfast they have either a hot or cold breakfast. The hot breakfast changes everyday. Nice little town with a great bakery.
Downstairs there is a bar and restaurant and outdoor eating and sitting areas in front and back.
We stayed in Room 4 upstairs, the room is small but adequate. Painted wood floors, and antique
furniture. At first we were scared that there was no air conditioning because it was over 100 degrees
but there is a cooling system and ceiling fan, we were never uncomfortable. There is no TV but
they have free WIFI. Breakfast was very good and comes with the room and they put out coffee
in the hall before breakfast and we sat out on the balcony to have our coffee. We had dinner
at the restaurant and that was also good.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Nice hotel but AC could have been better
Lovely hotel with lots of character. It was very warm when we stayed and the AC could not cope which made it difficult to sleep. Restaurant menu is ambitious but doesn't deliver on the promise.
We loved our stay at the Imperial Hotel. We loved our room that was adjacent to the balcony. The rooms are cute and have such an antique rustic feel to them and the view of the small quaint town was so relaxing. The breakfast that comes with the room was very good! We will be back for a longer stay in the future.
The good: Friendly accommodating staff. Good food in the house restaurant, on the lower end of the fine dining price scale. Good bar with friendly barkeeps. Locally popular. Interesting historical hotel. Beautiful grounds.
The bad: This hotel needs maintenance and cleaning. Cobwebs throughout. Disrepair everywhere. Our room, #6, was falling apart. Moreover, the room was dark, dirty- brick dust (see picture) was on the ledge and floor for our 3-night stay, never cleaned. Lots of cobwebs and a couple of spiders. Worn out (not antique) broken furniture. Mold in the shower stall. Loose tile in the shower pan. There is little to do in Amador City, but lots close by.

couple trip down Hwy 49
very average. nice live music, but restaurant under staffed, decided to go eat elsewhere, which turned out to be the wrong move, since everything near by was closed.
We loved staying. We had dinner, hung out at the bar, sat on our balcony. It was beautiful. And the breakfast was amazing! The next night we stayed somewhere much ritzier, but the Imperial remained the highlight of the trip. I hope to be back.
