Lovely hotel, amazing history and features.
Gardens are spectacular, views are great and small tea factory is a lovely touch. Food could be better (ate dinner and breakfast) but overall a lovely hotel with great heritage.
Just a magical stay at the Heritance Tea Factory. You definitely come here to stay here for a bit as it's not near the main road, but it's so peaceful and bucolic. The sunrise over the tea fields was spectacular, but the highlight for the kids was tea picking and the dinner in the railcar. We stayed in the Flowerdew Suite, which was enormous, but the only slight gripe is that I booked for 2 adults and 2 kids and realistically there was only the one king bed and a sofa, and since the kids wants to sleep together, they decided to sleep on the floor. They actually had no complaints and said it was comfortable so we let it be.
Everything was outstanding, the staff was friendly, extremely polite and made sure everything was to our liking. We splurged in the dinner train experience. It was well worth the extra. The experience will forever be forged in our hearts and memories..if you can afford , take the time or value a different experience go for it ♥️
The room is comfortable but a bit dated. The bath tub needs to be replaced as it was stained and cracked. But the rest of the hotel was lovely with such a beautiful story behind. Food was great and the views and surroundings stunning. Interesting to see how the tea is made and that you use the same branch for black, green and silver tea. However, the car journey from Colombo was horrible with small, windy roads and it was easy to get car sick for 6 hrs drive - one way😱
I stayed two nights at the Heritance Tea Factory hotel. As soon as I arrived I was amazed by the scenery, it looks just exactly the same as the photo, surrounded by tea plantations with a great with of the mountains from afar. It is a bit of a drive from the town but it was nice to be in somewhere very peaceful and scenic. They have a lovely welcome ritual and tea. The hotel still has the engines from the factory days and they runs every night for 30 mins. It is full of stories in this hotel. Everyone is so kind, welcoming and helpful.
I took the nature walk with Mohan and he is very knowledgeable and has the best photography skills!
I also did the Pekoe trail with Mutu, the kindest man who showed me all about the flora and fauna, and taught me some local languages. We had the best laugh! Thank you team!
The location of the hotel is incomparable. We loved the opportunity to stay in an historic building which has been lovingly restored. We were incredibly well looked after by everyone who works at the hotel and highly recommend this accommodation and the delicious food we ate.
A unique experience to stay in a historic tea factory immaculately and sympathetically converted into a luxury hotel. Lovely spa treatments but highlight was tea picking and seeing the historic boutique tea factory onsite. Beautiful secluded position in tea plantations and countryside
Beautiful property with amazing concept of preserving history. We were really impressed with the building and story. We loved the tea picking experience. Would like to suggest to the hotel to create an non profit to help the community near by and have the guests visit and help on the non profit, this way you will be able to attract more people.
Historic building but personally felt some modernization could be done without compromising the aesthetic qualities for example automate closing of the elevator doors. Also the access path to the property should be widened and resurfaced for safety reasons. Beautiful gardens and friendly helpful staff are redeeming features
Fabulous hotel and service was fantastic. Beautiful picturesque surroundings. The staff were courteous & went above & beyond to make us feel welcome and special.
Special mention to Gawshal the Duty Manager and Nuwan the Restaurent Manager for their excellent service & care.
This is a must visit hotel on your visit to Sri Lanka.

Liked: Staff & service, room comfort
The hotel is good and the surroundings are great but the value for what you pay to stay at Heritance is not reflected in the amenities in the rooms so definitely overpriced!!
A lovely stay at the Heritance Tea Factory. It's a repurposed tea estate factory, with just 50 rooms. Great service, and good a la carte options. Tea here is super, but coffee drinkers will be disappointed.
The property is amazing, and I was especially fascinated by the old elevator. Both the dinner buffet and breakfast were excellent. Be sure to try the "curd" — a yogurt-like dish made from buffalo milk. There are plenty of activity options (for an additional fee), and I especially enjoyed tea plucking while wearing a saree. The staff were all helpful. The room wasn’t too spacious but was clean and nicely decorated.
Beautiful location and charming old style factory design.
Poor amenities - this is not a 5 star hotel. little water pressure, no toiletries, only one power outlet in the room, slow wifi, no pool, Resturant a la cart menu comes with a “40 min cook time” warnings, it’s really cold there, no heaters
This was a beautiful hotel that captured its history. We had excellent service at the spa, enjoyed dining at the restaurant and it was lovely to walk the grounds.
However, I note that while most service was excellent, the supervisors at the front desk treated us very oddly when charging things to the room and then bought the eftpos machine up to our room at 10.30pm (knowing full well we had an early morning start the next day to hike Horton Plains) to get us to pay our hotel bill before check out the next day. It put a damper on our entire stay.
Wonderful hotel. Rich history and very well/tastefully kept. Staff are very warm and helpful. The grounds are beautiful; garden, mini tea factory and surrounding tea fields.
Dinner and breakfast were delicious (rice and curry is a real feast). Really nice and comfortable room, great view too.
While it makes for a scenic location, the only downside is access to hotel. Small, uneven road makes hard for car travel. We intended on going out into town in the evening for dinner but thick fog came in and as it got dark we didn’t think it would be very safe/practical to start driving off again. So we had dinner at the hotel which was also very nice.
Beautiful property in the middle of tea plantations and away from the city. The hotel is an old tea factory which has been converted into a hotel. an eco friendly hotel with amazing views of the hills. courteous and helpful staff, great food (buffet and ala carte) and lovely garden with a small play area for kids. the hotel provides experiences like nature trail, tea picking, tea making process etc. you can go for an outdoor walk in the near by villages and meet the local women while they are plucking the tea leaves. Nuwara Eliya as a town is georgeous and so mesmerizing. we travelled from Kandy to Nuwara eliya and had some amazing views of the tea estates, mountains and water falls.
