At one point this was a nice hotel. Not anymore with the transition to recently being acquired by Hilton. It was drab and dreary and the lobby area was non existent. Hilton will need to do a bit of work to make this place feel welcoming. Also, it's away from most of the downtown restaurant areas and feels unsafe outside. Keep your head on a swivel as soon as you walk out of the hotel. As for VIP access, normally the hotel tells you what your perks are. The attendant did not know much so we never received our perks.

We were in town for a week. First time staying here, we got the corner suite for a great price. The suite was extremely spacious and updated. I would stay here again anytime. It's the best hotel I've stayed in downtown! Pros: -The furniture and bedding was very comfortable. Top notch. -The room was serviced daily. -In-room dining and drinks were quick, good, and not priced up like most room service. Cons: -The staff was very courteous when approached, but otherwise didn't speak. One valet was extremely nice, but the other was standoffish and unhelpful. -No microwave in room, although I'm sure if we'd asked they'd have brought one. -Espresso machine- not coffee, but you could order coffee.

This is a stately grand dame property that has been modernized. The room was quite good; the lobby was modern and austere juxtaposed on old and stately in a disconcerting manner. Staff were adorable. Location rocked!! Easy access to great restaurants and the WWI Museum as well as the Nelson-Atkins Art Museum.

Beautiful historic hotel in a walkable location. Restaurant has original tile, murals and windows which made dining special. We ate one dinner (Caesar salad - delicious) and 3 breakfasts. The breakfast was good but nothing special. Would be good to add some more interesting egg dishes (veggie scrambles, eggs Benedict, etc.).
