Front desk attendant was rude at checkout. I challenged the $28 parking fee per night when the garage was only $20 and free on weekends. She did not remove the charges and was very rude.

Loved the hotel

Was only in KC for 2 days, but absolutely loved this hotel. The staff was extra friendly and helpful, the hotel pool / lounge area was beautiful, and my room had a cute balcony overlooking a nice view as well. I would definitely stay here again if I'm ever in KC again.

Excellent staff, from valets, to front desk, to food service providers, to sales manager (a surprise encounter). Compliments end there. Two major problems with room: shower is in tub. Sides of tub unusually high. Floor of tub very slick. Slip and fall potential is high while stepping into tub. Second problem was with bed. Mattress sheet too small for mattress; could not be tucked in and secured. Worse, one side of mattress had 5 inch depression versus other side. Mattress needed replacement years ago. Fitted sheets also necessary. Shared sheet issue with front desk after first night. Issue noted, but never fixed. Was only disappointment encountered with any member of hotel staff.

Horrible stay at a place that chose to prioritize dog yoga over hotel guests. They sent a text welcoming you for coffee in the cafe from 7-9 am. Then closed the cafe at those times for a dog yoga class. Went to the restaurant 7 floors up for coffee, stood around waiting for service, then back and forth to the lobby searching for service. Finally found someone who served coffee from a Thermos in a paper cup with packet creamer for which they charged $5. Pretty certain it was from the cart going to service the dog yoga class. They need to understand and appreciate their core business and customers, which one would presume is not dog yoga enthusiasts. But who knows? They certainly received priority treatment over paying guests. The place also sent out various conflicting messages re: the dog class and which services would be cancelled and guests inconvenienced to support the dogs. I received 3-4 conflicting text messages and other communications re: what they were limiting for the hotel guests so that the dogs could hold their yoga class. I love dogs. I have 3 of them. I don’t appreciate paying $300-$400 per night for a hotel to have it overrun by dogs and their yoga class such that basic breakfast, lunch, and even coffee services are eliminated for paying hotel guests. I travel often to KC for family and business and have stayed here many times. I won’t be back. At least at a $100/night Holiday Inn one can obtain coffee. For FREE, albeit in a paper cup.

Great trip!

The Fontaine continues in our regular rotation of hotels we stay on our weekend trips to Kansas City. Rooms are clean, comfortable (with good climate control) and well maintained. The rooms show some wear in places but not noticing anything too egregious. This visit the front desk staff was welcoming and pleasant. The 7th floor bar/pool remain a great place for a cocktail. Friday night hallway outside our room was peaceful all night.

Honestly front desk and valet were great. Location was great. Rooms were fine. Gym was small. Pool was small but nice. Room was ok but while we were out the first day it wasn’t cleaned. Then when we asked they said staff was gone. No one could make up the room. My mid review is based on value. If it were priced lower my rating would be better.
