Average stay at the Derwentwater hotel, the staff & location are excellent however we did feel the hotel looked tired. Also we found the bed very hard. Overall we’ve had a lovely time in the Lakes.

ALL GOOD...A BIT DATED BUT GOOD VALUE AND GREAT LOCATION. THE ONLY DOWN SIDE WAS THE BED...2 SINGLES WITH ONE HAVING A SLOPE TO IT
Great hotel and a lovely outdoor area and bar. Check in was very slow with a queue of people in the waiting room.
Staff were really friendly and helpful.
No AC which is a shame.
Wi-Fi was good.
Beds were not comfortable.

Lovely location with nice gardens. Entrance via the conservatory gives a nice first impression.
Lift was broken and the room was tired with an old water stain on the ceiling from a previous leak in the roof. Bathroom was outdated and in need of a refresh.
Beds were comfortable and room was clean.
Lovely spacious hotel in beautiful grounds and good size car park. Great for visiting Keswick just a short stroll away. They hotel is huge. Breakfast was good. There is signs of age in the decor but quite adequate for an over night stay. A bit of a re fresh wouldn't go a miss but was a friendly welcoming nights stay.

Comfortable but some flaws
Decent location and fairly comfortable. However my room was not the cleanest, stain on the carpet and one of the bed sheets. The bathroom had also seen better days. Considering the price for one night, I was expecting a bigger tv in the room also. Obviously an old building so I won’t be too harsh on it but the decor was looking tired and worn out.
Gardens stunning next to the lake, only positive.
Booked via Expedia, room looked beautiful and modern on image.. Called reception to check the room we were looking at was the room we would get, told yes definitely. Checked in late Monday evening after a family funeral to find room not what we thought we were getting.
Dirty walls, dust everywhere no headboards, no fire evacuation sign on the back of the door, stained duvet cover, chair arms worn away, Dirt in the bath. Windows dirty and on frames. Very loud extractor fan outside the window. Spoke with Reception (1 person) showed no compassion very dismissive.
Bar service was goood.
Checkout with Lauren was wonderful.
Friendly staff, quiet location, lovely gardens. Nice room which was properly cleaned. Big conservatory would be great in bad weather. Only negative comment is corridor decoration could do with a refresh.
If you stay here, just know that it’s an older space, but it’s also beautiful. They have a great area to gather and games to play. The property has a proper garden area with lots of places to sit. We would absolutely go back.

Great for the money paid , beautiful location, tired decor. Helpful staff
Property photos bear no resemblance to actual hotel. The hotel needs a lot of investment. Hotel is shabby, dated and needs a refurb. Extremely basic. Good breakfast. Sheets and towels clean. Good parking and easy walk to Keswick town. Right next door to Derwent Hill. Drinks prices very reasonable. Garden is lovely. Ideal for walkers and dog owners. Wouldn't go there to be pampered....
