Disappointed by Lack of Flexibility for Families

We recently stayed at Bakers Cay for a family trip with my wife and our 3-year-old. While the resort itself is beautiful and well-maintained, our experience was unfortunately marred by a lack of flexibility and hospitality — especially considering it’s a family-oriented destination. Upon check-in, we were assigned a 1st-floor room with a balcony facing a busy walkway. Knowing our toddler is a light sleeper, I politely asked if we could be moved to a quieter room on a higher floor or facing a different side. The front desk flatly said no — no alternatives offered, no effort to accommodate. After a rough night with our toddler waking up frequently, we asked for just a one-hour late checkout to help ease the morning — again, the answer was no, citing 98% occupancy. It felt transactional and dismissive, not the level of service you expect at a resort of this caliber. We had high hopes, and while the setting is great, the lack of empathy or willingness to assist really took away from the experience. I’d recommend the hotel consider more thoughtful service for families traveling with young children. Sometimes, small gestures make the biggest difference.

The resort itself is beautiful, plenty of quiet private beaches, good swimming pools (crowded at times). Breakfast was excellent, beach towels kiosks a very good and convenient service. Rooms are outdated (in hammock wing) building and have some type of insects (maybe mosquitoes even though not visible) but our daughter woke up in the morning on our second day with 7 bites on her legs.

My experience at Baker’s Cay was outstanding from start to finish. The room was very clean, well-prepared, and super comfortable. You can really tell they pay attention to every detail. The beach area was one of my favorite spots—beautiful, peaceful, and full of fun ways to enjoy the ocean and surroundings. What truly made this trip extra special was that I was able to bring my dog with me. The resort is genuinely pet-friendly, and it made me so happy to share this vacation with him. Both restaurants at the resort were spectacular, with delicious food and excellent service. Every meal was a treat. I highly recommend this hotel if you’re looking for relaxation, great dining, and a place where your pet is just as welcome as you are. I’ll definitely be coming back!
