Wonderful first experience at SoMo! Only change I would make is to ask for a room away from housekeeping closet. View, dining, and drinks were amazing. Find Sharla tending bar, she makes amazing drinks with personality plus.

Very close to many restaurants and attractions. Beach was convenient place for kids to play. Didn’t like that there was trouble with the elevator in the building that needed it. Other rooms were in a separate building about a block away.

A Less Than Enjoyable Week
The location and grounds are nice, but unfortunately we had a negative experience with the cleaning staff & how the hotel dealt with the issues we had. The trouble started with the amenities not being properly restocked in our room & obviously dirty towels with gross stains on them being left in exchange for our used ones, another day the door to our room was left unlocked & propped open with no one around potentially all day as we were out from 8:45am to 4:30pm (ours was usually cleaned early) as well the bedding inside was streaked with brown stains that were not there when we left, which was really disgusting. Also the cleaning staff would yell loudly & argue outside our room early in the morning. When we brought our concerns to the attention of the front desk, they simply asked our room number & said they would investigate but we got zero follow-up or an apology of any kind. My husband finally went to the front desk & told them we didn’t want any cleaners or other staff in our room until after we left & we just went down to the desk any time we needed new towels or other amenities. On the day we left my husband spoke to one of the managers who simply said that all of the cleaning staff was new because it was new years and they weren’t properly trained yet, which is a ridiculous excuse, it’s the hotels’ job to properly train and supervise their staff. We paid top dollar for our week here over new years and feel liked we didn’t get what we paid for at all.

No microwave and some rooms don’t even have a mini refrigerator. Also we were on floor three and the elevator was broken the 10 days we were there. The stairs to the third floor were never vacuumed during our stay, needless to say they were quite visibly dirty on the day we left.

The property was in a great location - you can walk pretty much anywhere. There was a beautiful beach on the property, as well as several pools. The service was so-so - there was no assistance with luggage; my room was not ready at 4, but almost an hour later; and when I checked out, the cleaning staff were waiting right outside my door for me to leave.

We loved staying at this resort! I’m a big review reader before I travel to make sure I’m booking the most appropriate spot for my family and this one did not disappoint. It’s a big property with beach access, two pools if you have kids and one extra just for adults. You’re super close to the famous Duval street for eating and shopping. If you’re driving to Key West be prepared for a 5-7hr drive from the Miami airport even though it says 3.5hrs, it was bumper to bumper most of the way, but worth it! The hotel was clean. For visitors reference, this is not like a Mexico/DR/etc. resort experience, this is like a super quaint small community resort experience where everyone is doing their best… be patient and enjoy your trip!

Not a bad place to stay. The hot water in the room would run out or not even come. Staff had no fix for this. They whack you $60/day for a resort fee, not sure what that’s all about.
