Unfortunately, the property was in very poor condition. The guest room carpet was absolutely filthy with spots and stains everywhere. The rooms are dated, worn and noisy from street traffic. No AC, just dirty ceiling fan. Restaurant had nice breakfast, but also dated. Pub was fine. Great location, but cannot recommend.

They keep this grand old hotel polished and clean. I’m sure 50 years ago it was luxurious. However, they have not advanced with the times. No Air conditioning isn’t a luxury hotel. They supply fans but it is warm most of the night. The satellite tv they advertise is limited and it says antenna tv. There are no refrigerators in the room. No ice except at the bar. The Glory Days have passed them by.

We liked our stay so much, we rearranged our plans to stay again the night before our flight from Dublin. Wonderful historic hotel staffed by great people. Spacious rooms, just keep the windows closed if you like to sleep in.

Wonderful old but renovated hotel in downtown. Parking garage right across the street, and reasonable, like 12Euro for the night. Dining room and bar staff were wonderful. Food in Ember is first class.

This hotel is adjacent to everything: Kilkenny castle, shops, restaurants. We dined directly across the street at Left Bank for a superb meal. Afterwards we enjoyed the live Irish music provided in the bar area. The breakfast provided was quite good. The room was quite comfortable.

excellent location just round the corner from the castle and high street. While the hotel rooms are a bit tired looking and the bathroom is definitely due a refurb this was more than made up for with the excellent food and lively bar

Iverall the hotel is nice and unique. It isba classic, well maintained older room with some modern upgrades. My biggest complaint would be it was overly stuffy. Even with 3 fans and an open window it was not a comfortable temperature especially for sleeping even with outside air temps in the 50s and 60s (F). The bar and restaurant and staff were all great.
