The room was small, clean, and comfortable; the bathroom clean (but not completely spotless--a little mold in the shower grout wasn't really concerning). The staff I interacted with (including the owner) were not just polite but personable. And the breakfast offering was well above average. The pizza I had in the hotel restaurant, however, was mediocre, but the bartender/waiter was terrific--a master at both crafts.

No shopping nearby, hospital across the street. No elevator. Pub food wasn’t the best, fish and chips seemed to be thawed frozen fish and over cooked and hard. Morning breakfast was delicious. Plenty of seating in the room

Really bad smell
Room dated and there was a terrible smell from the bathroom. No room service and no food available when I arrived. A cafe style area was closed at 3 although I asked for food at 2.45 and was refused. I was told the restaurant would open at 6. The shower was old and all the chrome in the bathroom was rusty. The shower gel and shampoo dispenser was filthy. Even with the bathroom door closed the smell was overpowering all night. Payment was taken on arrival and no one at reception when I was leaving so I couldn’t inform them at the time.

The hotel had all you need for quick tourist visit or when visiting family in hospital nearby. Staff was efficient. As mentioned in hotel description, no lift. Keep in mind when reserving a room.

Front desk staff (male) was a little rude at first upon check in, but made up for it by offering to help with our luggage. The king size bed was NOT a king size bed. Hotel was very clean and breakfast was outstanding!
