The experience overall was not good at all, first of all it is not the manor that you stay in you stay in a totally different place, we were greeted by very unwelcoming staff, we arrived 25 minutes early fair enough so we went to get coffee and was greeted by the man behind the bar we asked for two coffees one latte one black he looked at us ran off and didnt see anyone for 15 odd minutes came back with another member of staff and didnt understand what we were asking as he was from another country the other staff member had to translate coffee was fair price, then we went to our room smelt very musky, dust on alot of surfaces and the head board, the bathroom design was lovely but dirty had previous peoples hair by the sink pubic hair on the side by the toilet, allergies had kicked off had to take piriton and inhalers, in the morning we went for breakfast the food was spot on cannot fault the place for the food plenty of choice and all really tasty food, but there was a large queue we felt very pressured as their all looking over at us all when we were trying to eat so we can hurry i think people should book time slots for their breakfast to avoid this. Staff were polite this morning when leaving but for £170 for one night is way above the price they should be charging.
We really enjoyed two nights. Helpful and friendly staff. Dinner and breakfast were fine. Swimming pool is a bit small but better than nothing. Very quiet and impeccably maintained grounds. We’ll visit again and next time we’ll explore the grounds in depth. Definitely a 5 star location.
When I had lunch at the Bar , I had to sit at a sofa as the 3 tables in that area were all dirty and had not been cleared since Breakfast , there was cutlery on the floor next to one of these tables .. Sloppy things like this is a management situation , not checking work quality . A 4 star hotel should be excellent , not so so .
Very quiet secluded spot and decent price, however my 'superior room' didnt live upto its name. The A/C which does the heating didnt work at all, luckily the room is supplied with an electric fan heater and in the morning after my shower i noticed there was no hairdryer. (Room 55)
Oh and finally, the room spec states LCD TV. Its L and D are correct but there LED Tvs. Old ones too!!
Good breakfast though.

Good stay
Staff friendly and informative. No real complaints but slightly disappointed Netflix was clearly barred from the wifi!
First off I would like to say this isn’t a bad hotel, food was decent as were the restaurant staff. Room was ok and clean if a little small for a superior double and in need of snagging. My issue is in the expectation vs reality based on their excellent marketing and photography department.
Some examples :
Room was meant to have a view of the garden however, looking out onto a hill with grass and a car park wasn’t what I was expecting.
Swimming pool. Arrived at 3:30pm after 2hr drive and looking forward to the pool however, not available due to swimming lessons 4-7pm….. maybe sat morning after a lie in? nope lessons on from 9am-1pm. Mild frustration but something I would want to know if I was looking here for a review.
Restaurant quite small so people being told they could get food from the buffet and eat down the hall in the bar… again not a huge problem but not what you expect for an accommodation of this type.
Overall the stay was “ok”. but if I just wanted ok I would have chosen a budget hotel with a budget price however, when you add up all the little things not quite right you can end up wondering what you paid the extra for
The location was stunningly beautiful in the Herts countryside. The hotel, I felt, was beginning to look a bit "tired'. Self service breakfast could do with being slicker to prevent queues at the coffee machine - making help-yourself pots available? Staff topping up? But a very comfortable night. Thank you.
