We did enjoy our 5 night stay at Hideaway. The resort is 45 years old so is definitely showing signs of its age. In saying that, to stay here you are NOT paying 5 star prices so it was perfectly fine for us. The people are exceptional, service was always with a smile. The pool area is lovely and clean and the place is right on the water with safe area to swim and snorkel. I have read bad reviews but I think people expectations outweigh the price they are paying for a resort on the water. The facilities are very basic but totally fine and suitable for a budget holiday. The only downside is the FOOD Such a shame as the food here could lift this place beyond expectations. Mostly food was cold and very hot and miss. The location of the resort means you have no other options but to eat at the resort unless you want to drive a distance. I would love to say I will be back but the food really soured our experience and it’s such a shame because the place itself is very quaint.

Breakfast buffet and dinner food was very good. Walking the reef at low tide was nice and interesting. I was able to walk up close to the waves breaking over the reef. The newer cottages are nice. The older cottages need updates. The beach front cottages are nice. The back row cottages get lots of road noise from cars and trucks driving on the Qweenways highway. Which is the major highway around the main island of Fiji. The Oceanfront Cottages are the most expensive.

What a pity for this property with such great potential. The property itself is nice, stunning ocean view, quiet, nice gardens too bad the property isn’t used and managed efficiently. Really poor food quality and really expensive for what you get. Service really slow, whatever it is for a drink or ordering food. Expect 10mins for someone to serve you at the bar and 45-60mins for food. After trying a pizza (was more a cardboard than a pizza) for lunch (really small portion) and the curry for dinner, we decided with my partner to not waste anymore money on the food in the resort and went to eat in the small restaurant located by the shop a couple of kms away (way cheaper, bigger portions and tastier). No cash payment, all is billed to your room. Double check your bill as extra charges have been added to ours such as donations, towel, etc that we didn’t agreed on or asked for. Contested those ones and end up not paying them. Room was ok however, the room amenities weren’t the best, the bed was made off hold sheets with wholes in them. Air conditioning unit was leaking, shower water pressure was really weak, shower door wasn’t closing properly, etc. Quality of service is questionable as well. We understood Fiji time but this was beyond that. Really slow and slack service. Room not ready at time of check-in. Bar, ice cream hut etc no one around to serve you despite plenty of staff behind the counter, etc. So general feeling, disappointing, could do better.

I was first put in cottage number 19. It wasn't beach front but behind other cottages. I paid for it beach front cottage. After one night in cottage 19, I was allowed to move to cottage number 26. Larger, nicer, and beach front. I spent two nights in it. I decided to stay another two nights and asked to remain in cottage 26. I booked through Expedia. I requested cottage number 26. But, after I paid Expedia, I was told I could not stay in number 26. On May 17 I packed my suitcase and left it in the resorts luggage room. Around 4pm May 17 I checked into cottage number 3. It's beach front but smaller and older than cottage 26. I'm disappointed that I had to pack up my suitcase, store it, and move for the second time to another cottage. This wasted several hours of my time.

Loved staying in the beachfront Villas. Especially loved the hanging chair and spacious room. Everything was functional, double shower was great, kids loved outdoor bath. Yes the room is in need of a bit of maintenance but if this bothers you then perhaps a 5 star is better for you. Very comfy beds- 1 King 2 single. Great lounge area. These rooms are a bit further to hīkoi from the main resort, pool etc The closest is room 300. We were in room 303 which had wooden blinds, not blackout so you are up early. Room 300 has plastic tinting on windows. No traffic noise from the road in these rooms, just lovely sound of the ocean. Rooms 307/308 are furtherest away and have road noise. On the plus side these rooms are very private. Beach has 2 tides a day. Best snorkelling on the other side of the resort near the big rock. Bring your own snorkelling gear as there is a cost at the resort. Good menu, $7.50 for kids meals. Pool is lovely, concrete slide a risk so we didn’t allow the kids on it. Kids area in the pool is a plus, really friendly staff. Kids club opened for our grandson and made it fun for him even when he was the only child. Facials and massages were lovely. Plenty of activities at the resort. Loved the village choir- great to bring some goods for them and make a donation. Highly recommend this resort.

Nice beach, beautiful breeze, well maintained compound, comfortable bed. Staff service is disappointing and very slow, dinner order took one hour to arrive and told that there is staff shortage . Had to ask for towels, bath mat etc . Breakfast is basic, need to keep asking for cup, glasses , spoons, ( and have to wait for someone to clean the glasses and another staff to deliver) refill of coffee, run out of fruits, waiting time around 1/2 hour as hot breakfast is to be ordered, Automatic billing of $10 into your account for village donation without your consent, when queried, had to wait for another staff to come and rectify the account after being informed that I had already donated $50 the night before.

Fiji hideaway was a budget friendly option, which was good. The place is dated but the accommodation was comfortable and gave us what we needed for a good price. The resort had activities which were good to keep the family busy. The food options were particularly bad and access to alternate options off the resort were hard to access. The resort is also a good distance from many things so travelling to tours, dining etc was costly and time consuming. Thank you though to the staff at the resort that made our stay worthwhile!

While I tried to enjoy my days there, the staff seemed unmotivated, unfriendly. Food was mediocre at best. Beach was pleasant but the trash we collected on the beach was still in the same pile two days later. Snorkeling by far was the best part of the resort.

It was so incredible to see the sunrises in the morning, the brilliant stars at night you could touch them! The coral reef was the best, right there you could discover the fish, all of "Nemo's friends, including Nemo himself!" The staff was fun in the evening and the lighting of the torches was a great treat each night. Fire Dance was fun and the walk on the reef with Dan out to the waves. All the guests were fun too. It was like a family. The Bure, bungalow, was comfortable, private, and really special. The rain at night but me to sleep. The roads on the path were nice too. I can't wait to come back. Vinaka!

We stayed at Hideaway Resort & Spa for 8 nights with our kids, this was our 1st overseas family holiday. We were very excited to be in Fiji & as a family we always look for positives in any of our holiday adventures. After the second day into our stay the reality & realisation of how badly run down the resort is,from pool area, public amenities,gardens/lawns,the very mouldy white sails on roof above dining area, overall buildings & our accommodation are very poorly maintained & very tired looking/dated. We experienced unsatisfactory service from staff in dining, bar & pool staff. This started to take its toll on our joy & positivity early in our holiday. Hideaway had really started to show its true colours. We experienced staff to not meet basic customer service on nearly every occasion whether it be for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Quite often we would receive our meals staggered, waiting 10-20 minutes which would result in not eating our meals together as a family. When we received our meals we had to ask multiple times for cutlery which took 5-10 minutes to receive,by that stage our meals had gone cold. At breakfast time cutlery, plates, plastic/glass cups, drinking water and breakfast juice ran out daily. On our second day we waited over 3hrs for Pool towels & they still had none, kept saying it’ll be another 10minWe ended up purchasing our own beach towels from Sigatoka to avoid the daily inconvenience/ disappointment. I’m sad to say we didn’t have a positive experience.

Fiji Hideaway Resort and Spa provides a classic Coral Coast experience with a relaxed, laid-back vibe, nestled amongst swaying coconut palms and featuring a beautiful beachfront setting; the resort offers comfortable bure and villa-style accommodation, a variety of dining options including Chiefs Restaurant, The Tandoori Grill, and Yuhi Robata Grill, and a range of activities such as snorkeling, diving, spa treatments, and a pool. The staff were friendly and helpful, and while some areas could benefit from updates, the overall experience was positive, making it a great choice for those seeking a relaxed and affordable Fijian getaway.

Great location right on the beach. Could snorkel in the lagoon straight out from room. Impressive marine life even though coral has borne the brunt of frequent cyclones. Superb view with lush tropical gardens. Staff very friendly & helpful although sometimes slow to attend tables to take food orders. Would have liked more Fijian options on menu rather than dishes we could already get at home though. Great range of available aitivities.

We booked our 1st family holiday overseas & what a complete disappointment. The resort is far from a “resort”. It is extremely run down, there is no kids club (but shows images there is) food is over priced for what you get, the service is terrible & staff look unhappy. Food orders took forever to arrive. There was also no complimentary drinking water bottles offered in the rooms. They run out of everything from pool towels, cutlery, mugs, food, every single day. The kids menu is basic & doesn’t change. There are wild cats everywhere & dogs too that wonder the resort. The dirtiest place we’ve ever stayed at in our 20 years of travel. There is mould everywhere in the bathroom, fridge & doors are stained with dirty marks, & a few times water was cut off completely without any warning whatsoever. DON’T GO HERE! Would highly recommend that Last Minute removes this resort from their accommodation options.
