Check out time 10 am. Check in 15 pm. We asked if we coud check out at 11 am they told that it would have a charge. Very small room. WE have a king bed. There was only 20 cm between the bed and the wall. Withe the TV on that wall. Shoud be a contorsionist to go to the other side. Bathroom was the smallest seen. If the room was small the bathroom was very very small. We have problems with the drainage and the bathroom get flooded. You have to place the stiker to make up your room. There was a line to get into the breakfast saloon. They put signs in the elevator to give you idea when the elevetor has jam hours. I would say that this hotel instead of being service oriented to the client is orientes to their own service,
This hotel was close walking distance to the Kyoto Station which is the subway station as well as the shinkansen (bullet train) station, therefore easy to get around Kyoto as well as transferring to and from other cities.
We paid for the buffet breakfast which was mediocre, however convenient rather than looking for a place to eat in the morning.
The hotel and room were both clean and nice.
As a westerner, I knew the hotel rooms in Japan run smaller, but the two beds in our room were so tightly next to each other they might as well have been one bed. I also did not like not having control of the temperature in the room as it was all centralized so if it was a certain temperature outside it would only cool or heat, and I’m pretty sure I got a cold alternating from the room either freezing or being a sweat box. Also not a fan of the bathroom setup having the toilet, sink and tub tightly packed in a small room you had to step up into. Overall the staff was great (spoke English and helped forward luggage) but I would not choose to stay here again. I picked this hotel largely for its location next to Kyoto station and price, but would definitely splurge for one with more space the next time I’m in Kyoto.
Out of all the hotels I stayed at during my trip to Japan, this one was by far the best. Everything about my stay was excellent—from the warm and friendly service to the room itself. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the room was surprisingly spacious for Japan standards.
I loved that everything I needed was already provided—high-quality toiletries, fresh clean towels every day, coffee, and all the essentials. One of the biggest highlights for me was the large window with a beautiful view of Kyoto Station—something you rarely get in many hotels here. It really made the room feel open and bright.
The location couldn’t be more convenient—right next to Kyoto Station, which made getting around super easy. The staff went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable and welcoming.
If you’re visiting Kyoto, I highly recommend staying here. I would absolutely come back again!
10/10. Restaurant was delicious. Room was spacious and fully stocked with everything you needed. Location could not have been better! Quiet yet so close to train station. Staff was kind, it was clean. Zero complaints.
Having cime from one APA hotel to another, i was surprised at how identical they are. The room I had completely matched the room from the orher APA hotel. This one the breakfast area is relatively small and filled up quickly. Breakfast is a okay buffet with different options, including ice cream bar. Location is good for kyoto station, but a little away from the interesting parts of kyoto you may want to see. Not a deal breaker though.
Convenient location. Check-in staff were rushing me through the check-in process, and angered me when I tried to check my reservation, which apparently didn't include any breakfast. Also, didn't like the APA "propaganda books" left in every room. This is a hotel, not a cult, so remove the books and it'll feel less hostile. Until then, I will never use APA hotels ever again. I'll go with Tokyu Stay because of their washer/dryer in every room.
Due to there being 3 of us in our family, we had to reserve 2 rooms. I had hoped for 2 single beds but was only given a full size bed in each room. The rooms are very, very small as are the bathrooms with very little space for storage of suitcases . Just be aware. Also, I attempted to use the washing machine, and although there are instructions in English, and I followed them, it still didn’t work correctly.
One plus is free coffee and tea. There is a microwave to use in the lobby by the not so user friendly washing machines. And they clean the rooms daily if you would prefer.
The best thing about staying here is the location. There’s a subway station nearby and Tsukiji right across the way!
One of the worst hotels I’ve stayed in. Overcrowded. Staff is robotic. Check in / bag storage is horrendous. Room is too small for two people. Bed was against wall, so my partner had to crawl in and out. 6-inch step into bathroom, no, not tub, the room. Try that when unfamiliar in the middle of the night. Stairs are locked and inaccessible, so elevator wait times can be long. Advice in case of fire is to put a plastic bag over your head to avoid smoke inhalation. TV in room spouts hotel amenities; we were unable to figure out how to watch anything of interest. Environmentally unfriendly. Only plus I can think of is location.

This hotel has the basics, but by no means exceeded any expectations. Pillows and bedding were very uncomfortable and the bathroom felt like you were in a motor home with not enough space to put toiletries.
Great location - 5 minutes walk to Kyoto Station and Kyoto Tower Food Court. Breakfast has a good variety of Japanese and western food. Rooms are bigger than most Japanese hotels. Only negative thing is they only have centralized heating in the winter and we found the rooms too warm. But we kept the windows opened throughout the day to keep our room cool.

APA Hotel was clearly meant for right-wing Japanese tourists. Foreigners should stay away.
