It is an OK hotel. Nothing more, nothing less
Basically a self service hotel. It is fine. Everything is done through the big TV in the room. The room was very small but is not a capsule. The bathroom is very similar to a standard cruise ship bathroom. No complaints about this hotel.

Easy checkin, servicing of rooms was towel exchange daily. No freshening of room, but amenities replenished daily. The room was filled with the bed, could have been a queen rather than a king, thus a bit more room. The dining for breakfast or wine bar couldn't seem to have working hours as posted. Convenient to the Kyoto station and central area for restaurants and shops.

Not Handicap Friendly
The room itself was comfortable--comfortable bed, clean, fridge that works well, good quality soaps, sheets and towels. It's very small with no safe, but that's kinda expected for Japan. Demerit points for how they treat the handicap. They boast accessibility services and have wheelchair stickers all over, but these are mere optics. I have trouble climbing stairs due to an injury, and had a miserable time for it at this hotel. The bathrooms in the suites are 15 inches off the ground, so entering requires climbing this rather high stoop. There are no handrails to grab onto, so I would hold on to the bathtub and toilet to pull myself up. The hotel informed me that they only had ONE wheelchair accessible room, and it was taken. All the APA hotels they checked in the vicinity had the same issue. So why advertise accessibility and stair-free rooms in the booking sites? Guests have to go up and down two flight of stairs to get to the Onsen. There's an option for entry on the ground (first) floor, and i was informed to ask the staff to unlock the door as required. I was denied entry on four occasions by 4 different staff members. The rudest said "No, no, no, no, no!" In an almost yelling voice when I asked to be let out to the elevator. They're trying to enforce harsh rules like as if they're running a prison yard. I did not deserve to be treated that way. Management needs to be upfront and NOT MISLEAD GUESTS. APA is not handicap-friendly. APA is handicap abusive.
