Cross Hotel was by far one of the best hotel stays we had.the location is fantastic, walking distance to pretty much everything you would want/need. Stations within minutes. The staff is beyond helpful and friendly and the hotel is immaculate. When we are back in Kyoto, we already know where we will stay.

Location Perfection!

Pretty standard hotel, clean, friendly staff, everything you could really need. Breakfast was good, lots of options. The main plus point is the location - exactly where you need to be to get the most out of Kyoto, right in the main area of interest, close to Nishiki Market, and also close to the Keisan Sanjo station which is very useful for getting to the slightly further away places you want to see in this quite extraordinary city.

We spent 10 nights for 2025 Sakura 28 March to 7 April -- trip of a dream come true -- and the Cross Hotel was a star of the stay. Location between a canal street and a main street gave the perfect spot to see cherry blossoms from the ample lobby common area and direct access to the major markets right across the street. Breakfast was fabulous - even my picky eater spouse enjoyed each morning (of course the neighboring bakery was a treat too). Gion is a scant 10 minute walk and there is direct access to the major riverfront at the end of the street where you can stroll for miles in the calm nature inside the bustling charm of Kyoto. Loved this hotel - and will stay here again.

This hotel has all the parameters that made my stay in Kyoto easy to maneuver. The subways, market, shopping and dining are within a manageable distance of walking. Staff were friendly and attentive to guest needs. I would definitely return to stay in this hotel if I go back to Kyoto.

So wonderful!

Our stay here was wonderful! The staff was always welcoming, patient, friendly, helpful and kind. The hotel is so central…close to so many places we could walk to. Restaurants, markets, shops, parks for our kids, some attractions and a lovely river that’s so peaceful to walk along and sit by. The restaurant offered a lovely breakfast and lunch. The room was spacious (fit the 4 of us comfortably with all our bags), clean and the bath tub was a dreammm! I’ll be recommending here and staying here again.

Wonderful location - could not improve on the location. On the beautiful canal surrounded by Sakura blossoming. Wide range of restaurants and food options. Close to the metro. Minutes from Nishiki market. Walkable to Gion District. Excellent breakfast with very wide range of food options. Free coffee in lounge area. Helpful free maps/walking guides available. Staff very friendly and helpful. Could not fault this hotel.

Great hotel offering all you need in location, very clean and quiet. Lots of western tourists here and keeps this standard. The central location couldn’t be better. I would stay here again. Our package included breakfast which was OK but it was very busy every morning even early before 8. Suggest to add another coffee station and greeter as both were overwhelmed with people. We visited during peak season in April, so may not be that crowded other times. This is only real improvement opportunity I could think.
