The hotel was fine for a 3*. The room was clean and the location convenient. I would have preferred proper milk for coffee/tea and the breakfast didn't appeal. The towels were tiny, the rooms were quite small, the air conditioning was ineffective and the location is noisy but... Albeit convenient for access to the train station.

The hotel staff provided excellent customer. I had an issue with transferring my luggage to this hotel but they took care of it in a swiftly manner and successfully received my luggage on time before checkout. Even though it was their first time dealing with such an issue, they handled it gracefully. The hotel room I got was clean and spacious, and it was a convenient location near Kyoto Station. I felt safe in this area. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay in Kyoto!

The place was great! Easy check in and the staff were lovely. There isn’t a laundry service or room on site however so you will need to walk a couple of blocks to find one if need be :)

We stayed in a triple room at Hotel New Hankyu Kyoto—my girlfriend and I along with our two kids (ages 14 and 5). The room size was decent for a city hotel and fit the three beds comfortably, though it did get a little tight once our suitcases were out. Beds were comfortable, and we were able to request extra pillows without issue. The hotel is definitely on the older side and shows its age in the room furnishings and fixtures, but everything was clean and functional. One thing to note: the HVAC system seems to be centralized, so it's either heat or AC depending on the season—you can't switch modes per room. You can set a temperature or turn it off, but that’s about it. We ended up opening the window (once we figured out how!) and that gave us a comfortable sleeping environment. The standout feature is the location—right across from Kyoto Station with a subway entrance just steps from the front door. Super convenient for getting around the city. Staff were friendly and accommodating, and they held our bags for us after checkout so we could explore. Overall, it’s a solid, no-frills hotel that works well as a home base for sightseeing—comfortable enough for a good night’s sleep, especially if you’re spending most of your time out and about.

The staff was amazing and the location is great, it was right across the train station and the bus stop for the limousine buss for the airport. With the amount of guest they get all the time, I am amazed the haven't remodel the hotel yet. Every thing is outdated. Our toilet leaked from the bottom. The room amenities looks rusted. My raring is soley based on the htoel building itself.

This hotel is conveniently located directly across from the main entrance of JR Kyoto Station, and next door to the Kyoto Tower. There is an underground walkway that connects to the sidewalk right outside the hotel from the station. Amenities are available for you to grab as needed in the lobby. Staff was very nice and helpful, immediate service when we called about things such as opening the window and about missing replacement PJ's after room cleaning. Two issues: there are no lounge areas in the hotel for you to eat or drink - there are signs everywhere saying no food or drink. The other issue was the hotel's temperature control. It was unbearably warm and I heard the staff telling another guest that it's centrally controlled and all they can do is help with opening the room's window. Which definitely did help cool it down some, but otherwise it was very uncomfortable. After one night of sweating it out, I caved in and asked them to open the window for my room too, and then it was better - but it became somewhat humid in the room instead. It was not only warm in the rooms, the lobby and all communal areas were too warm as well, so I believe the staff when they say it's central... I would end up going outside at 4am just to cool down. But anyway, other than that... the staff was all very kind, the hotel was clean albeit a bit dated, but the location is unbeatable so I would definitely stay here again!

Great for anyone wanting to be near all the city buses that take you to all tourist attractions. Loved my stay here. Would recommend! Lots of options at the breakfast buffet. Quality was okay and everything edible and good. The hotel itself is a bit outdated but that’s part of the charm in my opinion. They let you keep your bags at the hotel when you checkout as well.
