My only complaint is that they are so rigid about early check in. The hotel is small and with a check out at 11am they is no reason they cannot accommodate early check in for those guests who need it.
The room and location were excellent. However there is no parking in the hotel so you have to use the paid parking on the street. It’s close by but a little on the pricey side. Overall the hotel is great and comfortable.
I love this hotel. The staff were nice and welcoming. I also love the view of the mountain from our room. Also, 2 mins walk from the train station. Area is very quiet and clean.
The bed made me slept like an angel. It was a very comfortable space and distance to the attractions of the temple, kimono forest and bamboo forest was like 14 minute walk. The train station is 4 mins walk. Plenty of nice restaurants, has some of the best wagyu near there and soba noodles. The host by the desk was very helpful. If you need a quiet place stay outside the bustling downtown. This is it. The shower was great too and they had a tub which we used daily to soap our foot and in bath salt. I love it and would stay again.
A small (maybe 8-10 rooms) hotel in the Arashiyama area of Kyoto. Minutes from Saga-Arashiyama Station on the San-in line (about 20 minutes from Kyoto Station, ¥240). Several excellent restaurants in the neighborhood. Easy walking distance to several shrines and parks. The hotel itself is small but the rooms generous in size. Nice bathrooms. Extremely clean, quiet and with a friendly staff. Breakfast in your room (choice of Japanese or Western) was quite good. Recommend highly. Not centrally located in Kyoto but in a nice, quiet neighborhood with easy transportation access to all the sights. Much better priced than the big 4- and 5-star properties. Recommend highly.
The property is located in a convenient location - less than 2 blocks away from the train station, and near the Bamboo Grove (walkable), with plenty of dining options, convenience store and laundromat nearby.
The rooms were roomy, clean, with toiletries and amenities provided. Staff was great and friendly, and very helpful (they told us about the laundromat that was a block away from the hotel when we asked for laundry services).
I would recommend this property to anyone who wants to visit Arashiyama.
Loved staying here, very short walk from station (hauled my luggage through the rain). I stayed in both the room style A (2nd floor) and B(5th floor). A is my favorite layout, balcony has street view which was nice. On 5th floor B style the window do not open more than a slit (due to safety) and wasn't see through so the beautiful mountain view outside couldn't be enjoyed from the bed but balcony has the view. Friendly staff, they helped me get an item that I left in Tokyo hotel. Clean rooms and amenities. Would stay again.
This was the best hotel I ever been to (and I been to many hotels in my life). You are getting insane value for your money here. This is true compared to hotels world wide but especialy true compared to hotels in Japan.
We stayed in this hotel while visiting Arashiyama and we were beyond impressed with the hotel overall. From the walking distance to the Saga Arashiyama train station, superb quality of the rooms, cleanliness, attention and friendly staff, I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area. One of the best experiences!
Clean, very spacious room. Great value. All staff were friendly and professional. They even wrote me a personalized note. This was the best hotel we stayed at during our trip to Japan. Quiet area. Good location. Close to a Lawson and bus stops. About a 15 min walk to the bamboo forest or 10 min bus ride. About 10 min walk to the train station.
Everyone was beyond helpful! The staff helped with calling some places in Japan to help set up reservations. The room was spacious and had wonderful amenities. The bed was big and super comfortable. It was the best night of sleep we got while in Japan. We enjoyed walking around the town and to the bamboo forest.
I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. I liked that it was close to the bamboo forest (only a short bus ride). The bus stop is directly in front of the hotel. The room was spacious, the bathroom was awesome with a tub, shower and rainfall shower head. They had various bathroom amenities and additonal things you could request. The bed was very comfortable and the staff were friendly and spoke English.
Two things I didn't love. 1. The breakfast wasn't great nor worth the cost. I ordered the western breakfast. There are coffeeshops in the area, according to google. Plus a convenience store not too far (near the station, which is very close to the hotel).
2. There is no laundry facility on site. This may have been an error on hotels.com's end, but this location does not offer laundry. This is a laundromat about a block or 2 away, across the street. However, it is very small and only had a few washers, which were all taken when I arrived.
I dont think I would stay here again. All the hotels I stayed in during my 2 weeks in Japan were nice and this one was the most expensive.
The neighborhood was lovely. There is a great lunch steakhouse, a hamburger place and a convenience shop real close. Staff wrote welcome letters and we wrote one back to staff.
