Overall experience was wonderful. Aston staff was excellent. The only criticism would be the condition of property, overall it is lovely but a few details make it appear to be a work in progress such as the elevator with the construction padding to protect the walls, bathroom door in our room looked to have holes repaired but never sanded or painted after patching. These comments are very minor details and would not prevent me from staying again or recommending Kaanapali Shores. We had a wonderful experience and will book again.

Pool areas were nice except for the uncontrolled children which of course isn’t the fault of the hotel. Ocean right across street. Food trucks next door with dinners to take out. Grocery store right across the street which was very convenient. Good location for the hotel with a nice walking path. Room could be updated. Bed comfortable. Restaurant on property was good for breakfast, not great for lunch although it could’ve been our server, Angie, who made the lunch not so enjoyable. She was abrupt and unfriendly. Unfortunately, 2 days into our stay we had cockroaches. A call to housekeeping and they brought us traps. I know it’s an island but I don’t expect to pay this kind of money to have roaches. No daily housekeeping. Internet service was sporadic at the pools. TV signals had to be rebooted a few times, especially on Super Bowl Sunday! Overall the stay was fine, except for these few situations.

First issue: We stayed in the 2-bedroom 2 bath, garden view suite and saw the first cockroach 3 days into the visit. Front Desk sent housekeeping to rectify the problem. 4 days later, our last day, we had multiple roaches in each bathroom, kitchen & dining room. We notified the front desk of the additional roaches. They were sorry to hear of the activity & would take care of it for the next visitors. Roaches weren’t part of my hotel plan in Maui. I won’t stay there again. Second Issue: was the Trip to Hana set up by their concierge. The driver was self-indulgent and took us where he felt like going. I’ve done this tour before & am aware of the sights he neglected to take our group this trip. He told us from the start that it was his prerogative to take us where he wanted to go. Among a couple of scenic stops, he showed us a bank, to show us they are open only 30 minutes per day, and a gas station to show us the cost of gas in Hana is $25 per gallon. He passed by the banana bread shop that he was obligated to take us to, then took us to his favorite banana bread place. Then we stopped at the place where he told us he was going to pick up his dinner on the way back, and we stopped there again as stated, on the way back for his dinner pick up. It was a disappointment and a lost day. I hope this feedback helps others.

My mom and i chose this resort because they have pickleball courts, but honesty there wasnt anything we didnt love about the property. 2 great pools, one right next to the ocean you can actually walk right on to. The full kitchen was great a had everything stocked (cutting knives, scissors, coffee mugs, wine glasses etc) as well as an ice maker in the fridge 😀 and a toaster.. you get my point. The ocean view room was the most extensive panoramic ocean view we've ever gotten and we even saw whales from the lanai (late January) The only downside was the most uncomfortable bed felt like plywood, but each room is rented out by a different owner and the front deak saidbthey would of gladly changed our rooms if they would of known. Walkable to grocery store was a plus and make sure you visit Mauis best cinnamon rolls! The line is always long but gors fast and totally worth it (2 minute walk)

This was our first vacay with our kids, 5&8. The lawn area, gardens & fish ponds were great. The beach club restaurant was a gem, great prices. The resort had real orchid lei making on Thursday morn for $10 & other fun events. The pools were amazing & never too full. On site grocery store, with the big Times grocery, a 2min walk away, along with Great food too. The kitchen & laundry in the room was great for us. Front desk will give you all the tide, coffee & dishwasher pods you need. My only slight negative that I feel worth mentioning is that the building is older. It’s noticeable in the walls of the rooms (like old stucco) but once you get past that, the resort is well cared for & has everything you need. We will absolutely go back & recommend you go too. Lots of families & seniors alike. We met several people you have gone back 5x which speaks volumes. It’s a little north of the free kaanapali trolley, so you might want a car but we easily walked or Uber’d ($9-15 to whalers village, but parking is $11/day at the Aston so..) We just rented a car for our last 2 days, which we were happy for. We had 8 perfect days here, airport beach is just to the south, walk to the middle & the snorkeling is fantastic! Eels & turtles!
