Staff was pleasant and helpful. That’s where it ends. Our initial room smelled so strongly of bleach it made my eyes water. The helpful front desk guy gave us a different room without additional charge. The carpets were stained, the room has a slight odor but not like the first room. The room had coffee bags like tea bags in the room , coffee for purchase in the lobby, no breakfast. It’s one step above a motel 6 with a high price tag

Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Carpet in the room was VERY dirty and stained. Bed was not comfortable and pillows gave me a stiff neck and shoulders - way too firm & big.

This property is average, nothing special. Front desk is really nice & available. Our room was “ok.” Not sure why hotels have carpet, it’s so unsanitary & when was the last time they were steamed/professionally cleaned. The mattress wasn’t very comfortable, could have used a pillow top. I don’t like downs pillows. They offer no support and terrible to pluck geese

Very cute hotel, terrible bed

We liked the vibe and location of this hotel a lot. It was a great renovated cute vibe, walkable to things in Tahoe City, friendly staff, and we liked the coffee shop at the front desk. The main problem was that the bed and pillows were all terrible, it seems like they updated the whole hotel except the beds. As much as we would love to come back, we did not get a great sleep here. Please let us know if you get better mattresses and pillows and we will come back!

Great basecamp room before the trek

Great rooms with early check-in allowed. Room with a/c and ceiling fan made it a great Bed mattresses seemed less than comfortable.

The Basecamp Hotel staff were all lovely and helpful. The hotel had the amemities of a hotel with the fun personal touches like a hostel. We enjoyed the common area with firepits, tvs, and happy hour.

The room was very clean, although the carpet is stained. —-I think all hotel rooms should not have carpet but some sort of hard floor for cleanliness. Convenient for walking to restaurants and biking the Truckee River. We will be back next summer.

One night away

Overall this place is nice and a good value. I feel the staff needs to focus a little more on the cleanliness of the floors. The carpet in our room was pretty bad (damp, sticky, and many dirt spots) but not to the point we couldn’t live with it. We were only there one night so we dealt with it. Other than that, it was a nice experience. The location was awesome. Walking distance to shops, restaurants and the lake. Would definitely stay there again.
