Dogs running loose and actual dog poops in walkways and displayed on decorative rocks- so disgusting. The lake view is nice and i love a balcony but the rooms lack space, table surfaces or dresser. The parking was terrible and then got worse when they closed 2 of the parking lots. We encountered some rude staff and waited for a delivery that never came. Not sure why room service wants a tip with a tacky card in the room upon arrival but then never serviced the room while we were there. At least our building had an elevator

Staff was friendly. Room lacked basic amenities such as hand lotion. Some towels were not clean. Ants crawled all over the inside perimeter of the bathroom area (notified front desk at check-out).

We booked a king room with balcony and lake view….while we got a view of the lake we also got a lovely view of the public porta potties and public parking lot where nefarious activities occurred at all hours of the day and night. Along with the view of the porta potties we got to enjoy the lovely stench that came from them every single time someone opened the doors, which was quite often given the summer crowds. The room we booked was one of the most expensive rooms, but felt more like staying next to a dumpster….definitely not worth the $$$$. On top of that three days into our stay there was a power outage that lasted over 8 hours, that led to 24 hours of no hot water. While I understand the power outage was not the hotels fault there was ZERO communication from the hotel regarding what was going on. Several hours after the power returned we still did not have hot water so went to the front desk who said it would take time for the water supply to return, several hours later we went back and were told there was nothing wrong with the hot water. The following morning still no hot water, the front desk simply said it was the whole facility and they had no idea when it would be fixed. At that time we cancelled the remainder of our stay. The property was rather run down and trashy looking. Strongly do not recommended this property!
The view from our room.

Location was convenient. Walkable to many restaurants and Safeway is just across the street. The kids loved making s'mores in the evening. Travis at the front desk was very helpful and patient. Unfortunately there was a power outage during our stay and during that time we could not use the pool and didn't even have hot water.

I stay here every year and have never had an issue. However upon checking in we were advised the power has been out and no time frame when it will be on. We did not check in early due to the outage and went to eat and continued to call the property to see if it came back on. Finally drove back 3hrs later and still no power. Was told we would not receive a discount if we did check in. And due to no power we could not eat at the property for safety and limited amenities. Power came back on around 6-630 and we checked in and received a dirty room. No towels no face towels sand on floor. I requested new room and the girl laughed and said she could not give me a new room as they assigned them in the morning. They said housekeeping would bring towels and never did. Very poor service and we will not be coming back for our annual stay here for my daughter’s birthday.

We just completed a 5-night stay from July 7–11, 2025, and unfortunately, it was a major letdown. The hotel is wildly overpriced for what you get. While the location is convenient—right on a public beach—there’s little else to justify the cost. It’s extremely loud at all hours, and the beach area is crowded with unhoused individuals who are allowed to sleep and live there. It really raises the question: why pay resort prices when the beach is essentially open to all? Despite advertising as a beachfront resort, there are no complimentary beach chairs—they charge an additional $150 per day just to use loungers. The rooms themselves are in rough shape: outdated, worn, and badly in need of a full remodel. Dining was another disappointment. Every restaurant we tried was severely understaffed. Expect two-hour waits for mediocre food and inattentive service. Overall, this place banks on its location but fails to deliver a quality experience. You can—and should—do better

They have done a great job renovating/maintaining an older property in a great location. However, they need to determine if they want to offer a “relaxing retreat” or “spring break”. Friday and Saturday each had six hours of thumpa, thumpa, thumpa from the DJ on the beach that was loud enough to make it unpleasant to be in the room or balcony. So I paid extra to have a lakeside room when I felt I should have received a discount to put up with the noise. Also, note that people from outside the hotel use the beach, and they bring their own boom boxes. We also found that guests that smoke weed don’t believe that “non-smoking” applies to them. We were there on a busy week/weekend in July, so you may have a different experience.

Staff was quick to point out I booked thru third party?? Put us in room right next to elevator. The room was very small but clean enough.Shower was tiny and leaked to flood floor. Place stated there was service to room daily. NOT!The pool was grossly dirty with clumps of hair floating about. Definitely wasn’t worth the money spent.

Hotel prioritizes the Tiki Bar revenue over and above its paying guest’s comfort and ability to enjoy the beach. Much of the clientele at said Tiki Bar are young ( many are likely under-age), rowdy, raunchy, and wasted. I live in Miami and enjoy a party but staying at Beach Retreat was a complete disappointment, grossly over-priced, and we felt taken advantage of.

We enjoyed our stay at this resort. The best part about this resort is it’s location and it’s atmosphere beach access and the location is five stars. The rooms leave less to be desired. The AC units in our room was very loud. There was a huge gap between the front door where you can hear everything outside. The food served at this resort was very good. Great family resort. Great music being played during the day.

Overall

When we checked the beds were clean and made. During our stay we noted the following. Only one roll of toilet paper. Two towels Soap dispensers were empty Toilet handle was broke Bathroom floor was dirty Toilet seat was loose and slides around when you sit down. Remote control needed batteries One remote was fixed tv channel's would not come in clear Screen door was off track and there was lots of sand in the track. I tried to clean it and put the screen back on. Slidding glass door was dirty Lobby was out of coffee each morning Trash cans were very full on site most of the time. Saturday I went to the front desk and a very dissatisfied employee told me the other employee did not show up for work and he was supposed to be off forty minutes ago. The employee offered to take a note for my request but i opted to return instead. Please not the following Staff was polite The sports bar staff was incredible. Friendly, helpful, entertaining, and the food was great. I would like to say we love this area and we had a great room location. Room C101. The lake was incredible. Approx 10 years ago our daughter got married here. We are not a wealthy frivolous family and we stay here because it has been great over the years. To our family this was not a inexpensive place to stay. I usually recommend the Resort to friends and family but we were extremely dissapointed. Disappointed

We got charged for the services, asked for extra towels to bring up to the room and waited for over 1 hour, called front desk again they told me that I have to go to the office and get them myself. The rooms are stuffy and smelled. The prices are higher than the other I guess because it’s beachfront, There’s nothing to be impressed about it.
