Staff could not be more helpful.

Our stay was unfortunately disappointing. Upon arrival, the walkway to the apartment was dirty, and there was a dead bird near the front door, which created a very unpleasant first impression. There was also a strong odor on the main level throughout our stay. The apartment itself could use some maintenance. The carpet was old and stained, and the insulation was poor, so outside noise was easily heard from inside. The TV was not working when we arrived and wasn’t fixed until the following day. We also had issues with the washer/dryer. The dryer cycle did not work, and although staff came to inspect it, we were simply told that “it doesn’t work,” which was frustrating since this amenity was advertised as part of the rental. Front door can’t be locked and the doorbell outside doesn’t work. On a positive note, the beds were clean and comfortable, the kitchen was updated and well-equipped, and the towels were clean. Overall, while there were a few positive aspects, the cleanliness, maintenance issues, and lack of functioning amenities made this stay fall well below our expectations. We hope these issues are addressed for future guests.

Pros: All staff was very friendly and helpful. Free breakfast (and other meals) from the adjoining restaurant, Jack Fenn, was good. Parking was easy and convenient, being free, and right outside the front door. Very comfortable environment, loved the smell of the fire as we walked in to check in. Nice wooded area to walk around (although I was disappointed in humanity to see so much trash along the beautiful trails). Cons: Water was barely warm enough to shower, but good water pressure. No washcloths available (maybe this is not typical shower equipment outside of the US), baseboards in the bathroom could've used a good scrubbing, parts of the shower were broken (handheld piece just leaked water heavily without proper function). Guests were charged €12.00 per person to have a guided tour of the small museum/medieval collection that is kept at the castle. Spoiler alert: you can walk through it for free on your way to breakfast (but obviously don't get the guide/history). Dinner at the property comes at the flat price of $70 per person with minimal food options (we opted to not partake). Other note: The Expedia write up about this property mentioned multiple times about the property having laundry facilities, but the staff was confused when I asked about doing laundry. We drove into town and used a laundrette instead. Overall, I loved the ambiance, but probably wouldn't book another stay. Felt like a one-and-done type stay.

Nice place, convenient parking, nice common areas, close to stuff in town. Staff was nice.

Very helpful and welcoming staff . Breakfast often ran out and had to wait to be replenished and croissants often ran out . Nice room and great to be able to use spa - staff at spa lovely too Anne x

The staff where very polite and the food in the bar was excellent.... There was also plenty of parking, which has been an issue in the 15 years i have been visiting Ballina and staying elsewhere. There are plenty of aminities but unfortunatly i did not use any of them...
