Bit of an unusual review, I arrived on Monday for a few days of shopping and dining, only to be quickly taken down with complications from influenza, to the point where I eventually had to be taken to the emergency room and then admitted to the hospital. Christina, Carol, Julie, everybody stepped up to help me, got my room cleaned out and my belongings stored. They even called the hospital to check on me, to see if there's anything else I needed! I looked forward to coming over and staying a few days for the very purpose stated above, for many years. It's a beautiful, stately place where you really are transported back in time. After I was just charged, had to make my way back and pick up my belongings, and this staff is just the best. They helped me load my car and they wished me well. Unless something else happens, I will be spending at least a few days next Christmas, 2.0.

This is the oldest operating hotel in Florida, dating from 1833. Very quaint and charming. We stayed in the main inn and enjoyed our time. However, the carpet in the room was shabby and the bed was very uncomfortable. Just needs some updating. The restaurants are very good and we enjoyed our dinner and breakfast.

This hotel is super historic which means the buildings are old. It is sooooo loud in the hallways and through the walls and ceiling. That made it not so enjoyable. No sleep at all.

We should have been told that our room was on the top floor and there was no elevator. My husband is 80, and has trouble with stairs. A woman across the hall from us was so overweight she could barely walk, and they put her up there too. The WiFi/internet service was virtually nonexistent since we were so far up. My husband couldn’t do anything on his phone. Very frustrating. Also, I called the hotel before our stay and asked if the pool was heated. They assured me that it was. It was not. No fridge in our room either. Won’t be back.

Great historic property right on the Lake. Friendly staff. A broad porch where you can lounge, drink or eat with a perfect view of a Florida sunset. A number of interesting restaurants only steps away. The hotel restaurant is fine for breakfast and/or lunch.

Beautiful place I loved the area and the staff was great. The beds in the room are very uncomfortable and just some of the property needs updating the chair we sat in on the porch was broken. It was a great place. You just charge a lot where I understand that, but I feel like you need to make some updates to the property.

Absolutely beautiful location. The rooms are cozy and bright. Once we arrived and parked we walked everywhere to shops and restaurants. The sunsets over the lake were the best.
