Lovely historic place to stay

The main reception/pub were really nice you felt the history of the place. The garden was lovely too. We stayed in a family room in another building called court mews, the floors were so creaky in room and corridor. The room was ok, the kids slept on sofa bed and they said it was uncomfortable not alot of mattress on it. The room etc were clean. We would go back as its very close to who we were visiting.

Lovely old period building with lots of history, even has its own chapel which is used for weddings. There is also an annex which has standard rooms. If you want to stay in the old building you need to book a superior room.Highly recommended for those who want a quiet place to stay. Local national heritage parks (Bradgate Park, Swithland woods) are close by - great for walkers and the hotel is also dog friendly.

Affordable Grandeur

The hotel is a lovely old building but not over stuffy and the staff were lovely. We ended up with a wood paneled room with a view which was full of character although a bit 'tired' in places, especially the bathroom. But still decent. Had an amazing roast dinner in the evening in the restaurant. Cooked breakfast was good. And the nearby village is nice with 3 pubs to explore.

Good Hotel, needs some improvements.

Overall a great hotel, with amazing grounds to take a short stroll, the add-on buildings with additional rooms are quite cheap looking and feeling. Would stay in the hotel again in the main reception building which has a character.

Just ok

Stayed in room 11. In a poor condition, loose fixtures and fittings, poor window covering, just needs some talc. Food bland .

Great location, beautiful building full of character. Rooms desperately in need of updating and the evening food was very disappointing, pub grub at best. Breakfast however was outstanding.

Charming hotel

This is a beautiful old hotel with character and charm. Some of the areas need a little updating but it’s clean and tidy. The staff are friendly and helpful. We enjoyed several meals, including an excellent breakfast during our stay.

Quirky Charm but Room for Improvement

We recently stayed at this hotel for one night (Saturday) and paid £90, including breakfast. The main hotel itself is charming, with quirky historical decor and good parking, located in a nice area. The staff were friendly and welcoming, adding to the positive first impression. However, our room was very basic and dated, which we expected for the price, but a few maintenance issues made the stay less comfortable. Neither of the bedside lamps worked, the hand soap dispenser was missing a proper hanger, and the bath had visible rust. The room was also very warm, with no way to adjust the temperature or a fan provided. The biggest drawback was the lack of WiFi. While the staff mentioned it was a temporary issue, reviews suggest this has been an ongoing problem. The mobile signal was also poor, which could be frustrating for those staying longer or needing internet access. On a positive note, breakfast was a highlight! There was a nice continental selection to help yourself to, and a hot breakfast menu with options like a full English, avocado toast, and smoked salmon. Overall, it’s a characterful place with great breakfast and friendly staff, but improvements in room quality, temperature control, and reliable WiFi would make it a much better stay.
