Pleasant stay at good value hotel

Was expecting a basic hotel but it was much better than that. Good size room, fine breakfast, welcoming reception. Perfect for a trip to the football or rugby.

Well placed value

I stayed here for the Leicester Comedy Festival. It is a pleasant short walk into the town centre. This, the free parking and the size of the room were exceptional value. The only small issue I had was one that can't really be addressed - creaky floors. I wasn't disturbed by them myself, but was a little paranoid walking around late at night/early morning!

Arriving late, the entrance was locked with directions to use the car park entrance which meant finding where the car park was. Once found I was let in and rapidly checked in. The room was very provincial hotel and not to my taste but the bed was comfortable. Next morning found that the shower didn’t work and had to head out unwashed. When I told reception they didn’t seem surprised or offer anything to compensate for this. I wouldn’t choose to stay here again.

Why stay anywhere else?

Proper old school traditional hotel, stopped here previously as it is a refreshing change from the chain hubs/express hotels. Great reception staff, warm hotel and amazing shower, free parking a big bonus and easy beautiful walk into town.

It was a short trip for us as we arrived late to visit the Richard III Visitor Centre and Cathedral the day after on our first day of a Tudor inspired trip of England with the kids over the next few days, of which we wanted to start with the beginning of the Tudor dynasty! We were absolutely thrilled to realise that we had managed to bag ourselves the Richard III suite which was absolutely fantastic with a large bed and bunk beds surrounded by Richard III artwork all over the room and furniture that feels quite medieval. Breakfast in the morning was tasty and really good! The only two things of note, it’d be good if they had EV chargers for cars, and the bed was a little hard, but other than that it was perfect. I’d really recommend this hotel.

My wife snored happily

Was in Leicester for my daughter’s graduation, the bed was very comfortable, my wife snored happily all night. The breakfast was great, it set us up for the day. If I need to stay in Leicester again, I’ll be staying here.
